1965 VW Beetle Cal Look Sedan For Sale
This impressive 65 Beetle is on its second trip through the Oldbug.com website after its current owner
located in Maryland has had his fun "Scootin" around town.
The car was built in Southern California and had many of the best hands in the business involved
with its restoration and performance upgrades.
Well kept and cared for during its current ownership, the car remains just as clean as it
was when he purchased it from its previous California owner.
Very clean and subtle in color and layout..but it truly packs a punch
performance wise and up close it is done truly to a concours level.
Current underside shots show the level of detail and care the car has received.
Every nut and bolt was attended to during the restoration
Impressively clean underneath
Specs on the engine are listed further down in the ad,
but these photos show its current condition with very few miles added during current ownership.
One of the only changes made to the car under current ownership was
the conversion of the belt system to an original formation from the more
complex serpentine belt set up that was on the car when last listed with us.
Very clean and well kept
Wow
So the photos above shows the car as it sits today.
I will continue on with the previous listing of the car that dives deep into the build and history of the car.

Below are the photos taken of the car in early 2023 when it was listed on our website by its California owner/builder
The So Cal based 1965 Beetle Sedan is a very special car.
The restoration of it was done by the very best in the business
the engine was built by an legendary shop
and absolutely nice expense was spared during its build.
Ron Fleming at FAT Performance built the 2275cc power plant out back
and anyone in the know can rest assured that there are no better hands than his to make the most
out of an air cooled performance engine. Not only is Ron an amazing engine builder, but he
is also a Cal Look legend in his own right being a member of the Der Kleiner Panzer club and such.
The current owner just fitted a stellar vintage look performance exhaust by Tiger at A1 Performance.
The restoration was completed about 13 years ago
but remains extremely clean and fresh having been in a pampered
well kept white glove collection for many years.
Driven very minimally since, it really does still look "new"
BRM wheels, T Bar bumpers, the perfect stance and a very hot performance engine out back.
Cars like this are what have made the Cal Look scene a style that has traveled the world over.
Clean, simple and surprisingly fast.
When a humble little white Beetle pulls up at a stop light
and then wipes the smirk off the Camaro driver's face when the green light hits...its magic stuff.
The deck lid on the car is a period fiberglass unit that
was a common sight in the Cal Look era.
It seems that not many remain on street cars these days
but I really love the look and mild custom touch it gives this car.
Matching spare wheel and tire
Interior is excellent
Gene Berg shifter
Empi GT steering wheel
and a full compliment of instruments in the dash.
Interior is correct 1965 stitch patters and done to perfection
with crisp tight lines and folds.
More detailed specs and history will be posted on the page soon
but I wanted to get the images and ad up before the weekend here.
Underside was fully restored and finished to a mirror shine.
A very light bit of dust and a few water spots under here now, but this
could easily be detailed up for shows if you are the "mirror under the car"
kind of person.
Pop out rear quarter windows
Its hard to stress just nice nicely this car was done... I hope it comes through in the images
The seller has sent us a TON of images... too many to really comment
on all of them and not sound like a rambling idiot...but Id rather show more
pics than not enough...so all of them are posted here.
Full performance gear box, built to handle the horsepower of the FAT Perfomance engine.
OCIR decal in the back window is a nice touch.
Little tree!!
Original birth certificate from VW is included
Dyno sheet from the engine build
184 peak HP with a peak torque of 180+ ft lbs!
Yowza! In a Beetle that feels incredible!!
In any case, this is a wild ride in a mild suit, just the way the Cal Look scene
started. Top level build, the best of the best in parts and the best hands
doing the work. If you know...you know.

And back to the car as it sits today in the state of Maryland.
Its a long way from its Southern California creation but this timeless style has spread
worldwide. The car's current location may be a benefit to European buyers as shipping across
is much cheaper and faster than from the West Coast of the US.
Wherever this one ends up though, it is sure to entertain whoever turns the key!
