1967 VW Beetle For Sale
SOLD!!
There is nothing quite like a good solid 67 Beetle.
Out of all the years of production it seems that VW hit a real sweet
spot
in 1967. The last year of the towel rail bumpers and painted dash,
first year of 12volt electrics and a bigger engine, and a whole host of
special details
that were only found on the 67's.
This car is a super clean original car with a known history back to its
original California owner.
The car is located now in the state of Texas
but the service records and documentation all point back to a life of
care from
the original California owner.
Repainted once on the outside in the original color.
Chrome looks great, everything is quite tidy with the car.
The Sprint Star wheels and dropped front spindles give it that mild Cal
Look
but the car remains very stock otherwise. In fact the owner has kept
all the original parts
that came off the car should the new owner wish to put it back to all
original specs.
Clean car.
Super straight body and nice paint...she is a clean one for sure.
The headliner is the original headliner!
It shows some slight yellowing with age and there is a poke hole in the
center that you can see in this shot
but it has survived the past nearly 50 years quite well.
Interior paint is original and in very nice shape.
Interior looks great and has all been very cleanly redone.
Locking glove box
Very clean dash with the priginal knobs and radio
Steering wheel is original and unrestored with a nice wear to it from
years of use.
Seats and panels are all very clean and well done.
A small tachometer is mounted under the dash to keep tabs on the big
motor out back.
Headliner looks pretty decent
Shifter is a very nice Vintage Speed replacement that still retains an
original look.
Out back is a very clean and strong running 1835cc engine.
Apron is excellent'
Fuel pressure regulator
Super clean engine
Nice stainless exhaust
Oil cooler keeps the Beetle running cool even in the hottest weather.
Rear bumper and reverse lights are correct 67 only units.
Fuel cap
Under the hood is unrestored but still in decent shape.
A new trunk liner would trim this off perfectly
Spare tire well looks good
Super solid
The motor: is an 1835 and includes a new machined aluminum case,
full flowed for oil filter return,
new heads that are CB 044 with stainless steel valves of 40x35.5 and
single high rev springs,
stock rockers of 1.1:1 but on solid HD rocker shafts using swivel feet
adjusters.
I used a DPR fully welded/balanced 69mm crank, lightened 8 dowel
flywheel, HD crank bolt as well.
The pushrods are solid requiring "0" loose valve adjustment as they
don't stretch like stock.
Pushrod tubes are Stainless steel.
The fan shroud is a doghouse 36 horse style using a stock
doghouse oil cooler, but also added an external oil filter
and run a Derale thermostat controlled electric fan cooled oil cooler
behind the drivers pan.
It cuts on only at 180 degrees and is hard wired in to the
battery with a fuse so that if it does get hot enough,
it runs for a minute when car is turned off.
Living in Texas the owner wanted the extra insurance while cruising the
Tollway in Austin.
The car will fly 80+ MPH all day long, and drop right back to a steady
idle of ~1000 as he likes a little higher rpm at idle.
The carburetors are custom Venturi'd Empi 44 HPMX with 32mm vents
instead of the stock 36,
for better low and mid range torque. With the carbs and valve
train the car will rev all the way to 6,000 with smooth ease.
Transmission is stock 67 swing axle, with a new clutch and
Pressure plate, as well as HD black german transmission mounts.
Nice
Very clean underneath
The stock 1500cc engine is included in the sale and was a good running
engine when pulled.
The owner just wanted the boost in performance, but he retained all the
original parts.
Original wheels and caps are here
Original spindles and drums are here as well as the original seatbelts
He even kept the original read interior panels.
The paper trail on this car is fantastic with
documents that date way back to the cars early days.
Bodywork receipt from way back when
Mileage and service logs dating way back...this page in the early 70's
And more from the 80's
In closing this is a great car.
I is perhaps not a perfect show car, but it is a very well kept car
that still retains a lot of its originality.
The performance modifications make it a very fun and spirited driver
but all the original parts sitting on the side make it an attractive
car for the collector that wants something proper.
The best of both worlds here. And the car is priced very
reasonably.
