1956 VW Beetle Sunroof Sedan For Sale

This 56 Oval Ragtop is a real gem.
A perfect blend of classic looks and upgraded performance.

Very stock and proper in appearance, but built to be a reliable highway runner that will keep
up with the fast paced world of today. The owner built it with long drives and rallies in mind
and wanted a car that would keep up with the 356 Porsches and other sports cars at the events.
He ended up with a fantastic combination.

Beautifully done inside and out.

German square-weave carpets and rubber floors.
Wool headliner. Full Mid-America sound package over Dynamat,
shoulder belt anchors on B pillars, very rare 1965 VW speedometer with trip odometer,
tachometer in clock surround, rebuilt stock seats. Dual Perspex sun visors.

1973 dual-port German 1600 with 1776cc pistons, dual Kadron-Solex, mild cam, 12V alternator, and full heater-defrost system. about 85hp

Very cleanly detailed in all areas.
This is a car you can proudly show at the shows as well as drive around the world.

Nice canvas sunroof and a nice color combination.

Very clean in the jams

The car was built in California but is currently located in the state of Maine.

Body-off restoration by California specialists.  Powder-coated pan, wheels, suspension.
Lizard Skin sound-absorbing undercoating under pan and in engine bay.  Dynamat sound insulation on all inside surfaces.

Sits right at stock height.
Nice radial tires on the stock two tone painted wheels.

1965 German roller-bearing link-pin beam restored to stock spec. Fresh steering box.
Karmann-Ghia - type disc brakes, dual master cylinder. 4.5” smoothie wheels on all corners.
Late German VW transaxle rebuilt with “freeway-flyer” tall gears. Long axles from a ‘67 swing-axle car,
giving a wider track for better stabilty and cornering without increasing spring rate.  Drum brakes.

Chrome and trim is all excellent

Its all fresh and clean underneath with a nice attention to detail.
This image was taken during the rebuild to show the level of workmanship.
No stone was left unturned,

Love that tidy interior

The floorpans have been professionally coated with "lizard skin" undercoating/sound deadener.

The 1776cc engine was built by the folks at Car Craft in Riverside California.
Strong runner and well sorted...this is a turn-key driver right here.
12 volt electrics of course, the dual "Kadron" carbs give a nice boost over stock.
The owner says it runs as strong and fast as his Porsche 356 Super 90!

Detailed jack is a work of art in its own right!
Very clean up front.

The restored trip speedometer was reset at the time of the restoration and the odometer shows
1274 miles since the last bolt was turned.

Current underside shot...a little surface rust on the brake rotors as you would expect but still inpressively clean.

Seats and headliner look great!
Pop out quarter windows are also a great add on for a sunroof car.

Here is an underside shot taken before the undercoating was applied.
You can see that the chassis was fully detailed!
This was a body off restoration.

The black steering wheel and black dash knobs look awesome against the body color.

The speaker grille mounted tach is awesome as is the stealthy audio unit and 12 volt power supply so you
can keep your electronics charged and listen to modern music along your travels.

This is a great car inside and out.
A tru vintage VW that you can actually drive in the modern world with comfort.
Fly in and drive this one home!!
