BUYER'S GUIDE
INTRODUCTION

So you want to buy a Vintage VW?
Well there is an awful lot to learn but with a little common sense and some basic knowledge
of what to look for, the average consumer can find the VW of his or her dreams
and not end up with a pile of junk.
It is my hope that this buyer's guide will assist a few people in getting a good deal
and a car they can be proud of.

But first, lets explore a little about how investing in an old VW can be a worthwhile endeavor...

Volkswagens have a following like no other automotive brand. People from all corners of the world are fans of the car. Take one trip to any of the major VW events in the world and you will see what I mean. Old VW's have personalities, and a bit of charm. They remind us of simpler times and can help balance out our hectic lives. A drive in an old, slow VW can calm you down, it's almost like a meditation of some sort. A cruise down the highway in some hyper muscle car gets the blood pumping...the same drive in an old VW mellows you out and puts a little smile on the face.

I dont want to get too spacy on you here, so lets just say that the VW is more than just a car...
it becomes a member of the family.

Other reasons to buy an old VW is value.
Vintage VW's have been experiencing a very sharp rise in prices over the last few years in the collector's market. Gone are the days of the $100 1960's Bug that runs and drives (although there are always bargains out there). High quality restored VW's are going for big bucks and show no signs of slowing. As an example, a perfectly restored early model 23 Window Microbus here in California, recently sold for over $50,000!!! Seriously!

Now that does not mean that all old VW's are now worth a mint, but it does go to show that there are some serious possibilities when it comes to an old VW as an investment.

But the best reason to own an old VW is because you like them.
Dont just buy one to stash in the garage and watch it's value increase...get out there and enjoy it,
attend VW events, make new friends, etc etc...
