1971 Super Beetle Convertible Show Car For Sale

The year was 1991 and the VW show scene was at a level it has never seen before
(and has not seen since)
Show cars were works of art with wild graphics and flashy style... think of the top cars of the day
The Rodbuster Ghia, the Suicidal Tendancies Squareback... and this wild Super Convertible was cut from the same cloth.

Built by Sean Cour in Oregon for his brother Ian, this car was indeed a "Super Show Stopper"
It was shown at 7 events and captured 17 awards back in the day!!!

It truly was an impressive build and if you ever saw it in person...you will remember it clearly.

The most amazing part about the car though is that it still looks fresh today close to 20 years later!!
Truly top quality workmanship and fantastic storage and care have transported it into todays world
in every bit as impressive condition as it was back then.
The current owner has done a fair bit of work to take it from the show piece it has been to an actual
functional driver. He has swapped the wheels for stunning Porsche alloys
and replaced the engine with a brand new one that now runs as good as it looks (the original being a little more "show" than go)!

The car has only been driven about 50 miles since it's revival...just enough to make sure it is all working without
doing damage to the amazingly detailed undercarriage.

The paint is still absolutely mind-blowing.
Super super smooth and glassy and the graphics are fantastic.

The underside is classic "over the top" custom from the era and it still blows
people away at today's automotive events. The current owner has shown it a few times
and pulls in top awards each and every time!

Check out that paint!!!

Look at the polished panels up above the trans and all the triple chrome plated
 suspension bits!

Still spotless after all these years.

The taillights blend into the wild custom bumpers.

Ghia front disc brakes (Porsche 914 disc in back) all show detailed.

Paint under the fender wells is phenomenal.

Porsche rear disc brakes.

Impressive!

Look at the reflections in these exterior photos...like glass!

Front signals are molded into the bumper..headlights are slightly smoked for that dark evil look.

Great stance and overall look..and that award was just won recently.

These photos truly do not do the car justice...you must see it in person to believe it.

This is a car you could (and should) show with mirrors underneath it!

Look at that reflection!!!

I love it with the Porsche alloys on it...the billet Boyd wheels it had on it when first done
were great for the time...but the Porsche wheels are timeless!

Another great reflection shot.

Front suspension...amazing.

I love how the body graphics carry through the fender wells...awesome!

Interior is excellent still.

Headliner tight and clean.

Simpson belts

Hardware all tidy ad show detailed.

Check out the graphics on the dash and how they carry through on the doors.

Custom hood hinges.

Under the front hood is beautiful and very cleanly finished

The graphics are really awesome...nice detail shot here.

Notice the "VW" worked into the stripes!

The new engine is an impressive upgrade and uses the matching original shrouding and level of detail.

Chrome latches and paint details in the door jams.

The dash is full custom and loaded with gauges.

Here's a brighter shot...check out the Momo steering wheel!
Note that the audio unit in the center console has now been removed...

Here is a current photo without the console.

Stewart Warner instruments.

Check out the custom bracketry on the bumpers!

The graphics within the fender wells...so cool!!

Under the engine is spotless.

The new engine...almost forgot the specs!
Brand new 1776 longblock, a new transmission was installed as well with heavy duty side covers,
a CB Performance dual turbo hideaway setup, with turbo prepped Weber 44's,
Ceramic coated turbo header,
