1971 VW Super Beetle For Sale
The first generation Supers werent really that different than the standard
Beetle...the biggest difference
is the front end suspension... a MacPherson Strut front end provided smoother
ride and improved handling.
The bodywork of the front was changed slightly to wrap around this new
front end. The rest of the car remained
basically the same as the standard cousin, until 1973 when the windshield
and dashboard of the Super were changed dramatically.
This particular example is the kind of find that VW nuts around the globe
dream to find.
Perhaps not "ALL" VW nuts dream of finding a 71 Super, but we
all dream of finding a very well preserved
all original car that is free of damage, owned by some sweet little old
lady who only drove it to church on Sunday.
Im not certain if this was a Sunday church car or not...but it sure has
the rest of the package going for it.
The gorgeous paintwork is all original except for the rear fenders that
were repainted due to some
light scuffs that the original owner put in it while navigating her narrow
garage.
The rest of the paint is all original and is still gorgeous.
The only modification from stock is the period correct rare early 2pc American
Racing mag wheels.
The original wheels were retained and will go with the car.
Sold brand new at Green Motors in Norwalk California,
the car has remained in sunny Southern California it's entire life.
Garaged and treated with amazing care, it s now in the hands of
a very prolific collector and serious VW nut who has maintained it well
and put a good many miles on it.
Its been a very reliable and enjoyable driver...but a brand new Passat
has entered the family
and the Beetle is not getting the use it once was...so rather than let
it sit...up it goes for sale.
Whoever steps up for this car will truly enjoy it..it's a sweetheart.
Body is excellent all the way around and the chrome is still very nice.
Flat H4 headlights light the night sky.
Turn signal lenses are nice and clean...rubber looks good.
Excellent tires wrap these rare original 2pc aluminum wheels.
These may look like the common Empi 8 spoke wheels at first glance...but
they are not.
These are quite rare and desireable wheels and they are in amazing condition.
If a potential buyer is not interested in the wheels...the price can be
negotiated down a fair bit without them.
Glass is excellent, window rubbers look good.
Nice bright trim
I really like this photo...the face of the Super Beetle...ready for action!
Blue California plates with the original dealer frames.
Original bumper guards...slight aging to the rubber but still very nice.
very very straight and smooth down the sides.
Window scrapers look nice...glass is excellent.
Smooth!
Pop out rear quarter windows.
No signs of rust that normally attacks the area under the crescent shape
vents.
Back bumper looks great.
Nice shiny chrome "tweeter pipes".
Taillight lenses in great condition.
Current registration and clean title.
Nice car eh?
The original 1600cc dual port engine runs very nice and the car is a delightful
driver.

Correct vacuum advance distributor.
Factory inspection marks still on the fan shroud.
12 volt electrics with the proper generator
All the right engine tins in place.
Rear apron is excellent...body seals look great.
Paint is clean under the lid.
Engine has a bit of road grime beneath...but nothing spooky.
Floor pans are excellent and all original German steel...a very very solid
car.
Even under the battery area is looking good.
The front trunk is very very clean and has all the original hardboard liners
in place.
original paint code tag... Clementine Orange
Washer bottle in place.
Underside of the hood is very very clean and the hood latch still shines
gold.

Body tag
Inside is quite clean as well !
Stock steering wheel in great shape
great period accessory dash trims are very cool
68,000 original miles!!

very clean dash and the pad is in excellent shape
original carpets!!
Door panels are clean.
Seats are also in excellent shape and have the proper "buttons"
on the seat back.
Production date sticker in the door jam in nice shape.
Rear seat also in excellent condition.
Some deterioration to the headliner in the back here...but quite minimal.
headliner is the original and is holding up pretty well
There is a noteable rip in the headliner here above the driver's seat,
but that is in my opinion
the worst part of the car... and if that is all there is...the thing is
pretty cherry.
Re-do the headliner if it bothers you or leave it as is as it is the original
which is rare to find these days.
Door jams are super clean and solid.
original owners manual
Some light water damage along the bottom but still in very useable shape.
original window sticker and purchase invoice!!!
Its not "perfect", but for being 38 years old and having 68,000
miles...it's a cream puff.
A few knicks and chips...(beauty marks)... but an impressive survivor and
a great history.
It's been seen in a few VW magazines too by the way...a full feature in
a Japanese magazine and
quite a few photos in other VW publications worldwide as well.
