Meyers Manx "Kick Out" Dune Buggy For Sale

This is a very special Dune Buggy located in Southern California
and is being sold by its original owner and builder.
Less than 500 miles since completion, this top to bottom quality build
was based on a 1963 VW Chassis.

This is a quite rare Meyers Manx "Kick-Out" body, which was made by Bruce Meyers in 2010.
To Bruce this was the re-do of the Manx that he always dreamed of.
Still with traditional styling but some proper improvements such as an opening front hood
for easy access to the fuel tank and wiring, and a redesigned headlight arrangement that was much stronger
and more attractive than the Manx1 or Manx 2.

This is the "traditional" version of the Kick-Out with the standard upright windshield
and no side pods that fits on the traditonal shortened VW Beetle chassis.

The color is "Orange Sherbet" and it is the factory gel coat.

Another design update to the Kick-Out was a wider opening above the engine
that greatly improves access for tuning and service.

I love the black California plates and the BF Meyers plate frame.
Mickey Thompson "Mini Mag" tires up front like the old Gates Commandos of early off road.
Color matched headlight and turn signal assemblies and those awesome
KC Daylight off road lights with smiley face covers mounted to the window posts.

All original documentation has been retained
as well as photos of the whole build of the car.

Fat stack of receipts for everything, and the car is currently registered in California as a 1963 VW

Meyers Manx nose emblem

This is Kick-Out body number 20 and the 10 is for 2010 production.
The small stamped T designates the Traditional version.
The Kick-Out SS was an all street version that had other significant changes to the body shape
including a blended in curved windshield and integral side pods.
The Kick-Out bodies I believe to be one of the lowest production Meyers Manx bodies out there.

A special surfboard shaped aluminum emblem is also a part of the package.

That opening hood of course is the most useful and glorious of the changes over the traditional Manx.
If you have ever curled yourself upside down under a Manx dashboard before, you will praise this
change for sure! Having access to the wiring and such is such a joy!

Fuel filler is under the hood as well and easy access to the tank for servicing too.
There is even a bit of storage space.

Dreamy access to the wiring, and all lights, indicators and accessories work on the car.

A single wiper has been installed that is hand operated.

Beautiful interior, chrome Meyers roll bar

Love those bucket seats and racing belts.

Natural fiber sisal mats set things off perfectly and the simple clean dash layout is free of
the "worry gauges" that Bruce disliked. Speedometer and fuel gauge is all you need to know.

5 panel "Wink" mirror, stock VW steering wheel and the passenger grab handle are super nice.

Odometer shows 371 miles on it which is probably accurate since completion of the build.
Locking shifter is another nice add on.

The chassis was powder coated and also the pans treated with a durable bed liner finish.

The hard top roof is a welcome thing on those hot sunny days.

Here is the lever to actuate the wiper...pretty simple.
Its certainly a fair weather car, but for the occasional morning dew or splash of mud this allows for
at least a clearing to see something out the glass!

Out back behind that awesome Meyers Manx Sidewinder exhaust is a
1776cc built by FAT Performance. 92HP/108 corrected HP.
New aluminum case.
Forged counter-weighted crank and full weight flywheel.
Dual Kadrons (float bowl vents extended and larger venturis). Berg linkage.
SVDA distributor.
Puma fan shroud that follows/flows with the rear body line of engine bay.
Meyers Manx aluminum valve covers.

Here is a photo of the engine before install.
FAT Performance is well known and respected for building amazing VW Performance engines.
Definitely top quality work and with less than 500 miles since completion it is really still like new.

Transmission is a 3 rib Type 2 IRS gearbox built by Rancho
Gene Berg solid, mid and rear mounts.
Drum brakes all the way around.

New shocks and cv joints, everything is very fresh on this car.
The Meyers Manx cast finned valve covers are another super cool accessory.

Skid plates front and rear protect the important bits.

Adjustable front beam and Bilstein shocks

Chassis is like new and features
square bar stock along the outside edge for support and to hide the body mounting bolts.

Extremely well done.

This is really an amazing opportunity.
The Kick-Out Traditional body is super cool and production was low.
Excellent collectors item as well as being an amazingly fun play toy.

A pair of sand tires on aluminum wheels comes with the car for those that want to blast
through the dunes.

A full set of restored German VW hubcaps also come with the car if you want to really give it that
simple vintage look,

What an awesome buggy and a fantastic buy.
It would be very hard to find its equal.
