1966 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale @ Oldbug.com

This is a really wonderful "survivor" 1966 Beetle Sedan with a fully
known history back to day one.
The car was ordered under the European Delivery program by a Mr
Norgard, who arranged delivery in Copenhagen Denmark
on June 1st 1966 , then travelled through his homeland and had the car
shipped back to Los Angeles later in the year.

The car has remained in the Los Angeles area for nearly its whole life.
It was recently purchased from a long time owner in the Palm Springs
area.
Always in a dry climate since new and the condition shows it clearly.
The paint appears to be all original, as does the interior, which is
the rare fully red "Pigalle" combination!

The car has had a few bits replaced over the years such as the rear
bumper and the engine, which is now a 1600cc.
But for the most part it has that perfect patina that a well preserved
original car can have.

The rear luggage rack is a nice addition

Mechanically excellent and all the electricals work.

The rear bumper looks to have been replaed at some point and the chrome
has aged a little.

Original paint on the wheels, small paint scuff on the passenger front
fender, original paint still shines
and while not perfect, sure looks great. There is nothing that matches
the finish and softness of a factory VW paint job.

Extremely solid car underneath

Perfect

This is the stuff that you dream of finding.

Spare wheel.

Under the hood

So nice to see it all original and untouched.

Clean and solid

ALL original glass..even the windshield

One little tweak right above the drivers side front overrider
tube...should be pretty simple to flatten back out
if you wanted to give that a try.

Engine room looks great...all very stock in appearance

Case is a 1600cc, so it is not the "original" but it is a very nice
upgrade over the 1300.

Excellent runner and driver, still 6 volt electrics.

Great looking car.

All original paint from what the owner tells us!
Seriously!!

Lots of original documentation!

All the manuals are here

First dealer stamp on US soil

Service stamp from the first service

Original delivery marks

So fun to have all this history!

The interior of this car is all red...from the rubber mats on up.
This special interior is referred to as "Pigalle" (not quite sure what
that means)
but everything, from the seat frames to carpet, seat covers, door
panels, etc...all red.
Very rare to find one with the red rubber mats in such impressive
condition!

Dash is super clean and unmodified

Original Blaupunkt radio

Odometer reads 85,467 miles as of these photos.

Headliner is original and in good shape.

Some minor aging and sun fade to parts of the interior, but still very
impressive.

I would be tempted to try to re-dye the seats here to give them that
factory fresh look...but the preservationist in me applauds
the fact that they are left totally as original.

The paint has some mild fade through in spots like the top of the
passenger rear fender.

It still holds a nice shine...just getting a bit thin in spots from a
lifetime of use and polishing.

There is a light wave under the chrome trim on the drivers door.

Overall it is quite the find.
A very clean and extremely solid original survivor car.
Fantastic history, very well maintained, excellent runner and driver.
