Top level body and paint by Buddy Hale of Type 1 Restorations
This was a body off , every nut and bolt build with only the best of the best.

The paint is Sikkens VW Pearl White (L87) with a jet black roof
and some very tasteful and impressive modifications to both cosmetics and mechanics.

Featured in Hot VWs Magazine and Volksworld in the UK
this is no normal street car.

Its a pretty impressive machine in looks and performance.
Still a very fresh build with minimal miles since completion, it remains show-ready
and absolutely "go-ready" as well.

The factory "pancake" air cooled motor in the Type 3 is fun,
but the owner wanted something with a bit more punch.

Under the rubber mat and under the carpet reveals something special

This is a Subaru swap and it sure fits in there amazingly well.
This 2.5 Subaru EJ25 water cooled engine was rebuilt by RAD Designs
uisng STi rods, pistons and ACL race bearings. The custom lowered intake
allows for it to fit perfectly under the factory engine cover.
The radiator is mounted just behind the engine and has twin cooling fans.
Microsquirt ECU is tuned to perfection with the fuel injected flat four producing over 200 hp.

The chassis was fully restored and details with custom front suspension by Oldspeed
Wilwood disc brakes and a freeway flyer geared transmission done by the Wright Gearbox.

Ron Lummus Racing spring plates and torsion bars,
truly top level parts went into the construction of this car.

The interior is also over the top while remaining very classy and tasteful.

Gene Berg shifter, nicely tailored carpets, superb custom upholstery

Very cool diamond stitched upholstery.
This is leather by the way, black to match the roof and pearl white stitching to match the body color.

Its squishy and smells fantastic!

Very cool stance and style to this car with Porsche Cayenne wheels in black to match the roof.
Early model body trim, factory bumpers and lighting.

Custom rear roll pan below the back bumper.

Its subtle and ohh so clean.

Extremely well detailed and done in all the deep corners

Custom adapter to mate to the VW transaxle.
Here you can see the radiator tucked in behind the engine.
Twin cooling fans help keep things flowing and chilled.
Custom exhaust has a deep mellow tone.

Pretty slick set up and it is reported to drive very well, fast and fun.

The owner has put a few miles on it and has run it to some events.
It always draws attention and is one of those cars that the more you look at it
the more detail you see.

Here with the rare factory sunroof open...a desirable and enjoyable option.

Here you can just see the cross drilled rotors and Wilwood calipers peeking out

Really neat machine!

Love that crank back sunroof!

Excellent chrome

This is a high quality car and its obvious the more you look at the details.

17" wheels from a Porsche Cayenne are a very unique and cool choice.

In closing this one is a special one.
I love the understated choices for colors and theme as it doesn't
draw attention to itself blatantly. The car would not be as cool
if painted a wild color in my opinion. Its refined, and well built, the car certainly speaks for itself.
Does it speak to you? Do you want it in your garage?
It would be tough to build its equal for the asking price for sure.
