A part of the Volkyland Collection in Puerto Rico

This 1958 23 window Bus is a very clean and attractive early model
in the fantastic color combination of Sealing Wax Red and Chestnut Brown.

These early model 23 windows are highly prized by collectors and the values of properly restored
originals is well into six figures these days.
This example has some authenticity and quality issues, so it is priced well under that market
but it remains a great option for someone that wants the early style without having to pay the price of a house to get it.
Straight out though I must say that I don't think this Bus left the factory as a 23 window.

Underneath there are some things that are not hooked up
like the parking brake cables and the heater vent

Close inspection shows the replacement of the front clip
at some point and there are some remaining signs of this work in the deep corners.

Upholstery is very nice, interior in general looks great

Floors are solid and cleanly painted.

Very attractive interior colors and materials.

Small quality details such as painted over knobs and hardware.
Not difficult to fix, but they are present.

Headlight bucket shape is one of the details that gives clue to the front end replacement.
The original 58 buckets are a little less round.

Floors are solid all the way through.

Wiring is incomplete

Push button for the starter.
Later dash, but the correct early parcel tray

Headliner looks great!

Nice early deluxe sun visor.

Fresh air vent is incomplete

Not sure what those holes are for in the access panel

No horn button

No deluxe clock

Body number.

Missing vent wing latch

Looks to be a later model center seat

A couple drilled holes in the engine room

Home made exhaust.

Bumpers are fiberglass.

Body tag

Numbers line up from what I can tell, but I think it started life as a 15 window
and the sunroof and skylights were added.

Fuel tank does not fit well.

1600cc dual port engine is obviously not original

Deck lid prop is missing

No belly pans underneath, no heater tube

Some funky welding underneath

Solid...but not correct

Very clean and solid underneath I must admit
but this is not a top level restoration by any stretch of the imagination.

Sketchy brake line setup

Wiring needs attention

Outside she is as pretty as can be.

Smooth and shiny

Its a good looking Bus really, but it needs proper finishing
and the re-working of some of the silly details.

Again...she is a beauty queen but she has some skeletons in her closet.
99% of the world will think she is perfect, but for the real crazy VW nut, we will see the details.
That being said...its a whole ton less money than finding a perfect example
and it is a genuine German bus, not some Brazilian import.
