1965 Beetle Sedan ~ A Serious Street Machine

Here's a shot of the street beast with the ERCO Wheels that it currently rides on.
The owner plans to sell it with these wheels but may be negotiated into selling the car with the Porsche Alloys seen in the photos below.

This is a very interesting car for several reasons.
First of all it is extremely well done. Every nut and bolt, from the ground up.
Its all new and it's all gorgeous.
Second of all it is built very subtle in the cosmetic department.
A true "sleeper" if there ever was one.
And that of course brings us to the third interesting factor...it is a wicked street machine.
With dyno numbers of 207 hp in a car as light as this one you are talking a break neck seat pin wild ride to be sure.
And all wrapped in a car that looks like Grandma might drive (well almost).

A lot of the special parts are parts you cant see. Many things were done to lighten the vehicle without
changing it's appearance. Firstly the fenders and front hood are fiberglass, and not some chinsy re-pop
baja stuff, a well built super solid construction. The glass (except for the windshield) are Lexan,
fit carefully into the stock rubber with the aluminum trim. There are numerous carbon fibre parts
as well that not only keep things light, it also adds a high tech quality to the car.

This is the personalized plate that was on the car when it was in California...a bit of a clue as to what it is capable of.
Referring of course to a time bracket in the 1/4 mile.
The best time run so far with the car is a 12.73 at Fontana on a really slippery track.
With slicks and proper track conditions it should be in the low 12's without much trouble at all.
To put this in perspective, the recent Porsche supercar, the 612hp Carrera GT with a price tag of almost half a million bucks
has posted 1/4 mile times of 11.4 seconds. Or a more pedestrian comparison might be an 02 Corvette Z-06 (the big boy)
which can run a time of 12.5. So you wont blow away the fastest production car on the road (the GT) but you
will eat up the vast majority of everything else...and in a tiny little yellow Beetle.
(talk about a jaw dropper!)

Do you understand now that this is no ordinary little yellow Beetle?

OK...so how the heck can it be that fast?
The engine was the brainchild of Mark Herbert, built to run on pump gas.
The displacement is 2332cc.
Here's a list of the hard bits and specs so you gear-heads can hear it all.
CB Performance forged and nitrated 84mm crank
CB Performance Wedge Port heads, with the ports cleaned up and Manley 44mm Intake and 37.5 mm exhaust valves installed.

(these wheels are not currently on the car, but a proper offer may include these wheels if desired... owner wants to keep them for his next project
but if the "price is right"...they could go back on the car.

Here it is again with the ERCO wheels...much more "Drag Racer" looking.

The car was featured in Volksworld Magazine recently and a full feature in Hot VW's Magazine is on the way as well.

Aluminum T bar bumpers.

If the car were mine (in my dreams) I would really go grandma with it, swap out the wheels and bumpers for stock bits and just have some
serious stoplight fun blowing away guys in Vettes and things like that. The car looks so tame is a monster in disguise...and I like that.

Regardless of what I dream of, the car is exceptionally well constructed and it just plain hauls butt.
A lot of fun for the money when you compare it to other collector cars out there today!

Car located in Cedar Rapids Iowa
Owner is motivated to sell it and has it priced right to make this happen.
This is a simply amazing deal for the price!

Remember...the car is being sold with the Erco wheels.
If you are in love with the alloys though...lets talk.
