1978 VW Bay Window Landmark Camper For Sale

This is a rare one! This Southern California based 1978 Landmark Camper
is up for grabs after the passing of its owner. This Bus actually sold through
our website in 2011 (click here for previous ad) .
The wheels have been changed to stock Bus wheels since that time and a little pin striping added
but it remains in very nice original condition.

The Landmark camper conversions are very rare as they were wildly expensive back in the day
and the performance compared to the American van conversions done by the same company
was pretty pale. I'm not sure exactly how many were made. but I would venture a guess
that there are probably less than a dozen of them out on the road today.

Landmark was the trade name for these conversions done by the National Coach company in Carson California

The interiors in these Busses were super comfy and quite swanky with the
padded headliners and swivel captains chars.
This particular one has been modified from stock with a simple bed in back
rather than additional captains chairs and wet bar.

Underneath this is a very solid California example

The high back captains chairs up front are super cool.

Original 2.0 litre engine runs well.
This vehicle did sit for a short while during the owner's illness but the family
has restarted it and it is roadworthy.

The most recent owner did add the "Blue Bird" pinstriping to the nose
but it still retains the original 1970;s issued blue California plates

Rear mounted spare and ladder make for a very fun looking back end.

April 1978 production with all the original stickers and tags in place.

The simple bed platform is comfortable and very versatile.
Perfect for loading up the surfboards or groceries and definitely cushy enough to camp on.

The original headliner is in great condition!

Original paint and graphics on this Bus and all the original tags and decals are present.
California owned since new.

Disc front brakes as factory.

Great looking proper 70's Americana custom right here.

Woodgrain dash and wall to wall carpeting.

Step on in to my pleasure room!

This was equipped with A/C at one point but it is currently not functional

You can see the under dash A/C vents in this shot.
Interior is in very nice shape.

Originally the Landmark models were sold with an alloy wheel
but under current ownership these were traded for a stock 14" Bus wheel with trim ring.
Wrapped with Yokohama "Super Van" tires that look to be in very nice shape

The seller says its running well after revival from storage.
Not sure if it will pass the California emissions test or not
but it has in the past as it has remained registered in the state.
My gut feeling is that it would be wise to give the Bus a full service before putting it into
heavy use, just because it did spend a little time sitting.

Paint is not without flaw, but considering its originality, it shows quite nice.

The graphics are so fun.
These were available in two color schemes, the blue and white as you see here
and a brown and white combo with the same graphic layout.

The blue and white is my favorite of the two for sure.

Manual transmission in this camper.
Check out the cool overhead spotlights!

There are some surface rust spots forming on the roof that should be neutralized
before they go any further, but no rust thru is visible

Spare tire cover and assorted accessories under the bed are included

Floors and jack points all look solid
