1956 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale

Here's a lovely preserved Volkswagen Oval Window Sedan, in a very attractive color,
one of my favorites, L351 Coral Red.

This car is based in Utah, has been there for over 30 years.

Lovingly maintained by a passionate VW collector/restorer since 2011,
this is a very well preservedOval Window, ready to drive and enjoy!

The car has been repainted (only outside)  in a correct single stage Coral Red paint.

This car features a very  uncommon original L74 Light Grey leatherette  interior.

The front carpets have been replaced with German square weave, as well as new Coco mats.

There are still original service stickers on the door jams.

Nice and clean, notice the new carpet over the side tunnels and across the front.

The interior paint is 100% factory original un=restored.

It's little details like this that make a preservation car so special.

Dashboard paint is original, steering wheel has been professionally restored.
The radio block off plate has been painted to match.

I love the look of a smooth stock factory dash, no accessories.

Real attention to details. the steering column has also been professionally restored.

It''s so inviting looking at a 62 year old interior that looks this good.

The owner paid great attention to details and saved as much from the original interior as possible.

There's something exciting about un-restored seats and door panels.

More lovely details of the original leatherette seats, the handbrake and gear
shift lever have been restored.

Speaking of shifting the original split-case trans is unrestored, but runs great and has been serviced at Vintage German Motors.
It just had fluid changed a couple months ago.

Another look at that very nice carpeting.

Drivers seat shows little wear being 62 years old, the interior was cleaned/serviced by a professional
upholster who normally does classic Ferrari's and Aston Martins, so it was correctly preserved.

Door silll paint 100% original.

I just can't get enough of this interior!
And it smells just like you would imagine it does.

Rear seat is almost like new.

But, that original factory leatherette just can't be beat, rear carpet and headliner are all original too.

One thing I really love to see is 100% original headliner.

This one is stained and slightly torn, but it's just wonderful that the owner saved it,
oh and look at that rare driver/passenger sun visor combo, in fine condition, that's also
something else you don't see everyday.

Under the back seat is nice and solid, note the original factory rubber mats.

And looking good up top on the battery side.

Rear cargo area is all original too and well preserved.

The age and patina on this leatherette is a work of art, of beauty.

Original passenger door arm rest, all preserved.

Another look at those original floor mats.

And passenger seat is great condition, it's really a treat to see a 62 year old Volkswagen preserved as
well as this one is.

Wow, all original rear carpet in the cargo area.

Floor pan still has original black factory paint.

The car was found without running boards, so the owner, replaced them with Wolfsburg West ones
with the original style tapered "fading" lined rubber board covers.

Which are of a very high quality, you can hardly tell them apart from originals.

All glass and rubber trims are still 100% factory originals.

Under the hood is looking proper.

100% original paint here as well.

Car has had some wiring updated from Wolfsburg West.

Front tire well is cancer free and in good condition.
Definitely signs of a bottoming out on a curb stone or something
but it appears to have been worked back out fairly well.

There's original paint here also.

The original fuel tank was cleaned, sealed and repainted to the original style dark grey-blue.

Looks great out front!

1950's style white wall spare tire.

Car has new king and link pins, alignment and front beam service.

Body has never been removed from chassis and is unrestored.

Pans have never been replaced, and are in good condition for their age.

Both haves look very good.

The battery tray has usual burn thru, but the owner said he couldn't bring himself to restore the car and do it all.
The cars originality was just too nice and all he wanted  to do was to preserve it.
Just another question to the issue of how much do I restore, before a preservation becomes a restoration?

Under the fenders all the way around look solid.

Fenders are new replacements

American 1950's style white wall tires were added in 2012.

They give this beautiful L351 Coral Red car just the right look.

I just love the color!

Nothing like looking through the Oval Window.

Let's take a look under the deck lid now.

There was no engine with the car when  the car was found, but the owner
found an engine with a serial numbers within a week of the car's production.
The case (standard bore), crank (1st cut), and rods all reworked by Rimco,
heads were reworked by Blackline Racing (formerly ACE).

All tin was powder coated semi-gloss black, generator was restored and re-plated.
Fuel pump and distributor were restored by Ed Fall.
Engine runs great and  has less than 2k on it since rebuilt, it's been maintained since by Dr. Dave Gillgrist of Vintage German Motors in Orem, UT

Looks like possibly the rear apron has been replaced looking at the seam here?.

Looks great under the motor, no mess or leaks.

Rear fenders are later replacements as they are not ribbed at the mounting flange.

Bumper mounts front and back have been power coated semi-gloss black.

L351 Coral Red with white walls a perfect 1950's Volkswagen combination.

Bumpers on the car are all original, except the front overrider "towel" bar, which is a Wolfsburg West one.

A very snappy looker, that Coral Red just pops!

Ready for the next local car show or a cross country trip!

This cars had other work performed since the engine rebuild.
New rear wheel bearings and seals installed, new 2 bolt brake cylinders, shoes, hardware, soft lines and drums turned all around.
New master cylinder and the brake backing plates were powder coated semi-gloss black.
New shocks from Wolfsburg West, new clutch and throw out bearing, etc. etc.
This car is ready to go, a time capsule, showing it's age at 62, but in the new way of preservation, not restoration.
Cars like this are showing the way for old collectors and new drivers alike,  full of originality but also ready to
be driven across the United States, a dependable vintage Volkswagen ready to enjoy!
