1957 VW Beetle Convertible

This is a survivor car for sure, a truly unrestored original with great history
and a fantastic look and feel to it. An extraordinarily rare find in this condition.

Located in Pennsylvania, it retains its original paint, interior and top!
Only three owners since new and less than 40k original miles on the car.

The color is L241 Bamboo which shifts between yellow and green depending on light
and it has got to be the coolest color of the Oval era.

The top appears to be the original to the car , possibly dyed at some point.
Its pretty dry and has torn in spots but remains functional and is a major part of the
original cool factor of the car.

The paintwork is all original except for one fender that was repaired in the 1960's after backing into
another car in the driveway. The repair was done at the dealership with factory VW paint
(the seller still has the paint can) and it has aged well and matches the rest of the car very well.

The original floor pans remain impressively solid with original undercoating intact.

Under the engine shot shows expected age and road grime

Nice to see original sheet metal and undisturbed under coating,

You can just catch the ribbed bumps on the fender surface that is correct for the era.

The support rails and heater channels do show signs of some rust and repair.

Here you can see the repaired area at the back of the support rail.
It is very solid and sound but this area has rusted.

The forward parts of the support rails look pretty good.

Floor pans look awesome

Apron up front looks solid.

Twin horns!

Some rust forming on the front edge of the drivers side support rail

A little crispy on this corner

Rear shows repair on drivers side as well

Drivers side rear fender is the one that was repaired back in the 60's.

Original transmission and an Empi camber compensator

Axle boot looks new

The owner things its possible that the engine has never been out of the car.
Its been serviced well during its life but with less than 40k original miles, it is possible.

Here is a closer shot under the drivers side rear fender where you can see
where the undercoating was disturbed to repair the damage long ago.

The original top boot remains with the car as well

A bit shrunk up and dry from years of storage...but its here.

Service stickers in the door jam.
The car spent most of its life with the original owners in Minnesota
where it was always garaged at the owner's lake house and used in fair weather.

Interior is all original as well and there are some very nice period accessories.

Amazing to see an original headliner on a convertible of this age.
Sure it has its water stains and age...but this stuff just didn't last.

Original seat upholstery too

Top frame still in original paint

What a dreamy car! Love that color combo!

The wheels have all been restored and repainted, original hubcaps and trim rings in place and wrapped with
very nice wide whitewall tires.

Accessory gravel guards and running board trims

Original bumpers with accessory rubber guard bumpers.

That original Moss green interior with the Bamboo paint is just magic!

Current owner has had the car since 2017.
It was in the hands of the second owner for 17 years.
The original owners kept it until 2000. It was a very well kept and prized
part of the original family and was shown often back in the 80's and 90's

The top is definitely showing its age.
The owner has chosen to keep it original as long as possible
and I think that is an honorable task.

It definitely is dry and the material is breaking down, but it is still functional
and when down it does not distract from the overall look of the car much.

Certainly something a new owner might consider replacing, but honestly I would keep it
as is until it really comes completely apart.

Some fun walk around shots in the sun

Some fun badges and accessories here and there

Door edge guards

Built in Der Woods by Elves!

Original numbers matching engine, runs great.

Rear apron and deck lid look fantastic

Original dealer sticker on the bumper

The original plates and plate frames from Minnesota remain with the car.

Original owners monogram on the door.

Seat upholstery is mind blowingly nice for being original stuff!

Original jack in place

Original tool roll..and look how clean those body tags are...wow!

Impressive under the front hood

Wow

I even love that original spare!

More details

Door panels are impressive as well.

Steering wheel in wonderful shape

Parcel tray is a cool accessory as well as the period fire extinguisher

Original carpets and mats

Floors still shine with original paint under the mats.

Perohaus speaker clock does work but does not keep good time.

Great period radio and check out that awesome Karmann leather key fob.

Very solid

Still 6 volt electrics of course

Original paper inspection tag on the seat

Just so cool to see the original materials everywhere.

There are more records of its history as well including the Birth Certificate from VW
as well as a lot of historic receipts and paperwork.

It's just one of those "wow" cars in my eyes.
To see an original paint, interior and top car of this age is extremely uncommon.
