1959 VW Beetle Convertible For Sale

This California based 59 convertible is a really beautiful restored example
that is ready for a new home.

The car left the factory on November 6th 1958
and retains its matching number engine, transmission , body and chassis.

The restoration was done about 20 years ago and the car is in the hands of its fourth owner since new.
Reportedly with just 66,000 original miles, in the current hands its driven maybe 600 of those over
the past 15 years of his ownership.

The car was originally delivered in L473 Alabaster , the current exterior paint is Damuso white LH9D

The seats and door panels are original material, and in shockingly nice shape
further backing up the low mileage claims.

Very nice condition in here and with that air of originality it retains some soul
that a fresh new interior would lack.

The floors are rock solid and clean, this was a body off restoration by the way
so it was a quite extensive job, but there appears to be no signs of serious accidents or rust
that needed to be repaired.  Looks like it was a really excellent basis that they started with.

Some nice accessories and details such as the VW logo Euro headlight lenses and period fog lights.

Wide whitewalls on two tone rims.
Excellent black canvas top.

Super clean under the front hood with a nicely restored jack in place
and some quite rare Italian market two tone turn signal lenses.

Very clean

Original glove box in place.  Nice clean wiring.

Very clean in the spare tire well, very straight and reportedly all original body panels
are in place, fenders, bumpers, etc.

Lighted "D" plate< reverse light and third brake light on the bumper are not currently wired up.
All other lights function properly including the fog lights up front.

Very pretty car!
Always well stored and cared for in current ownership,

The factory top boot would not quite fit over the top once restored
(they tend to shrink a bit over time)
So currently it has a simple black stretchy cover that is much easier to wrestle.
The original boot is included with the sale.

Here you can see a slight sign of age on the original upholstery
where the seat back has covered the back edge it remains lighter in color.
The overall condition of the seats is really impressive for original material
especially in a convertible where they are exposed to the elements more often.

Engine is the matching number original and it runs well.
Still 6 volt electrics and all stock.
Nicely detailed as well.
It does drip a drop of oil when parked for a week according to the owner
but other than that it looks fantastic.

Super solid and clean under the back seat.
New battery installed in 2024

So clean!

Headliner looks amazing...very nice fit and finish to the top and the whole car really.

All new rubber and body seals at the time of the restoration
Chrome and trim in very nice condition.

Bumpers are original German parts that have been rechromed,

German square weave carpets

Wolfsburg crest on the hood

Car has a clear California title and is currently on a certificate of non operation.
That means no crazy back fees if sold in the state of California, and there should be no issue with
registering it in any other state or to export the car out of the country.

Nice accessory dash clock and glove box pull.

Proper 4 tab hood and emblem

Very clean and solid underneath.

Very clean indeed...and again, this is the original matching number engine and transmission still with the car.

Beautiful!

Ceramic coated muffler keeps things looking tidy below.

Blue material is to protect the paint on the front beam when towed with a tow bar.

There are reportedly the original floor pans as well!

Great car, well restored and well cared for.
Nice history with documentation and birth certificate from VW.

Really shows well.

Another wonderful collector grade example that is ready to show or cruise.
Its a great value when you look at the cost of restoration these days.
This would be very hard to duplicate for the asking price>
