1969 Beetle Sedan - Custom

I ran across this car at a local event and the owner said he was interested in listing the car on our site and I
too felt it was something our customers would be interested in seeing. It's a pretty special car with many
special updates and personalizations. Someone has put in a lot of time and money into this car as well
as some serious love and attention. Take a look at all the photo and you will see what Im talking about.

It's a 1969 model, the color is a light yellow/cream that is apparantly a Mercedes color.
Its got a great presence to it, very clean and well trimmed with extras.
The biggest thing being the folding soft ragtop sunroof.

Not to flashy, but obviously not a stock vehicle.

Lets look a little closer at the details now...

Wolfsburg crest from an earlier Beetle adorns the hood.
Excellent chrome.

Really cool Wolfsburg crest chrome emblem covers the factory hole in the center of the front apron.

Nicely trimmed under the hood.
The jack and a lug wrench and the classic Idiot guide are included.

Spare wheel has a carpeted cover.

Tire on the spare is like new.

Nice and clean and shiny under the hood itself too.

Spare tire well area has been sprayed black.
Looks pretty clean. There are signs of a slight front end tap and repair here.
But very minor. The hood fits fine and all is good.

Drivers side of the spare tire well.

Volkswagen script emblem sunk into the carpet on the wiring cover.

Nice and straight and smooth body.
Quality of th paintwork is very nice.
Owner reported that the cost of the paintwork itself was $5000!
Definitely a quality job.

Decklid is stood off a bit to allow for room for the dual carbs on the engine beneath.

Amber topped European taillight lenses.

Cool 1969 vintage German rally badge on the rear apron.

On the other side is a great chrome AA badge.
I did notice a crack in the paint under this badge...look just above the wings.

Current California registration and a clean clear title.

Open up and say "Ahhh!"
Really nice clean engine compartment and a motor dripping with extras.

Displacement wise it is an 1835cc engine , Dual Weber 40 idf carbs (with the good hex bar linkage)
, Bosch 009 distributor, Pertronix pointless ignition,
Berg 1 1/2 quart oil sump. The trans has been rebuilt as well. Obviously lots of chrome and
custom trims as well. The car really runs excellent, very well maintained and properly tuned.

Detail of the Weber carbs... these are a great choice for an engine of this size.

12 volt generator looks recent as well. Owner has a big stack of receipts for work done on the car.
He's not a mechanical type so he has always had it professionally serviced.

Back outside...the car sits nice. Not too low, very driveable.
In fact the car was built to be a reliable driver. It apparantly has won some awards at the shows too
winning Best Daily Driver at the 99 Spring VW Jamboree here in Irvine.
Its always been garaged, it comes with a fitted car cover too.

Here's a nice shot of the sunroof.
Professionally installed 35"X40" ragtop by Sunroff Performers.
Top material is stayfast canvas like on those old Mercedes tops.
Nice fit and finish and it works well.

Wheels are the classic EMPI 8 Spokes, painted to match with 3 spoke knock offs with Wolfsburg crest embelms.
Tires are excellent all the way around.
By the way the brakes have recently been done and there are new shocks, KYB GR2 gas shocks on all corners.

Nice VW logo valve stem caps too... wherever you look there is a nice little detail like this.

pop out rear quarter windows are an excellent choice with the ragtop sunroof.

Looks better with every photo...dont you agree?

The interior is just as nice ans the exterior with lots of great upgrades.

The most unique item is the "batwing" steering wheel from a 1954 Beetle that has been masterfully adapted to
the factory steering column. Ive never seen this done on a later model car like this and Ive gotta say it's pretty cool.
Im a big fan of the unexpected and this one really had me scratching my head.

Full instrumentation too with the full array of VDO gauges.

Blaupunkt stereo, a perfect choice for a German car.
Excellent dash pad, very clean and properly fitted.

Scat Pro-Car seats are so comfortable, and these are in great shape indeed.

Door panels by Sewfine, another well known VW interior source.

Sewfine rear seat upholstery as well.
Seat belts of course for safety.

Headliner is very nicely fit.

Let in the sun!!

Nice carpet set.
Speakers mounted under the dash...no big holes cut like you see so often.

Empi "trigger" shifter.

Great door sill trims and scuff guards on the door edge and forward pillar.

Carpet is in very nice shape.

Deatil pic of the Blaupunkt AM/FM Casette stereo (which sounds quite nice by the way!)

6X9 speakers on the rear deck.
Everything very nicely fit and finished.

Check out this cool antenna on the inside of the glass!!

Again a quick outside shot...have to keep that shiny exterior in mind when we dive down below.

Very solid floor pans and chassis.

No rust issues on this one...solid solid solid.

Rear clean under the engine as well!
Heater is fully functional by the way...and in this shot you can see the rear sway bar that was
added for improved handling. The front has a new Sway Away sway bar as well.
As mentioned before this car was built as a driver, and it really is a delightful one to be behind the wheel of.

So in closing this is no ordinary 1969 Beetle. Its one that has had the full treatment and then some.
Nice quality workmanship, well thought out and well built.
Looks runs and drives excellent. Ready for a new home.
