Amazing 1976 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale
After being in the VW scene for as long as I have, many of the cars that
I come across are frankly a little boring.
Oh sure, I love them all, but you can only get so excited about a lowered
60's Beetle with Porsche alloys when you have
seen at least a hundred of them that are give or take the same. The onle
thing that continues to get my eyes dancing and my
face smiling are the really cherry low mileage survivor cars. Looking at
one of those really takes you on a trip to the past
I think it is the closest thing to time travel as we have in our current
world...and this car did that for me.
OK...it's not a split window ragtop or some rare coachbuilt, but despite
that...this is a really neat car.
1976 Standard Beetle with just 14,000 original miles on the odometer...original
everything down to the air in the tires.
Thats right...this car is pretty much showroom new.
OK...it is not flawless...it has a couple little things that one might
expect from 33 years of rolling around
but it is really a beautiful example.
great color combo and a rare cloth houndstooth interior.
Awesome!
And the plate on the front speaks volumes about investing wisely in "real
things".
The stock market is one thing, but it is built on thin air...real objects
like this little VW
are something tangeble, something enjoyable, something that no matter what
the "market rate"
you can go out in the garage and pet and touch and go for a drive.
And years from now the value will be higher than it is now... maybe not
enough to make you wealthy
but certainly not something that will drop 40% and cause you to stay up
at night.
If Chicken Little drove a VW...he wouldnt have made such a fuss...
Compare this to a new car these days too... of sure you may be able to
get a new econo-box import for
about the same money, but 10 years from now it will be worth 10% of what
you paid for it, while this old VW
(or really any of them we have advertised) will hold their value at the
very least, if not continue to climb higher.
Wise people invest in "precious metal"...which is why my personal
portfolio all has wheels.
OK...I'll get off my soap box now, but you are a captive audience and
what the heck...everybody else seems to spew forth their opinions on what
is happening in the media
why not have my turn?
The car is just gorgeous... very very minimal signs of wear or use.
I did see under really anal microscope type inspection that it looks like
the passenger side rear quarter panel has been resprayed.
Hard o know why or when...may have been at dealer level due to a scratch
in shipping or something...but based on what I see everywhere else...
it was not due to any major damage.
The thing that really blows my mind about the car is the original tires.
The current owner has another set of wheels with new tires that he uses
if he is going to drive the car any distance,
but there are indeed the original tires and wheels that came with the car...the
date stamps document it and the tires are indeed the right ones.
All the chrome and rubber and plastics are in great shape.
Garage queen all the way on this car.
Fuel injection!
The engine is completely proper and untouched and is extremely clean without
looking like it was ever
"cleaned up". Its a fantastic running car as you would expect.
Original blue sticker coil...note the marks on the fan shroud and the proper
cloth lines.
Crank pulley still has a bright finish to it.
With a well done detailing in here it could look even nicer, but it's impressive
just as it is.
All the original operational decals are in place on the car and are in
great shape.
Glassy smooth paint everywhere.
The underside has not been cleaned or detailed, but still looks pretty
fine.
Floor pans of course are superb...being garaged in Arizona for it's whole
life has it's benefits.
Dreamy.
Check out this fender well shot...complete with quality inspectors marks!
Wow!
Under the hood is cherry as well.
Original spare of course
Toaz metallic...perfect shade for the era.
Accessory bumper guards
A scant few stone chips and thats about it.
Class and rubber is excellent
Interior is dreamy as well
14,250 original miles at the time of these photos.
Rubber mats have protected the carpet, so it's like new underneath.
Just awesome.
the cloth houndstooth material is awesome, and not something that you see
often today>
The vast majority of these cars got the vinyl material, and those that
did get the cloth wore out the material
quickly and have probably been covered up with vinyl by now.
Rear seat is excellent as well...small houndtooth outfitted doggie may
be negotiated in with the sale...
Headliner is excellent.
the only bit of wear to the interior is right on the edge of the bolter
on the drivers seat.
Here's a close up shot of it.
production stickers all in place
original owners manuals.
The car was delivered new in Salt Lake City Utah at LH Strong VW.
here's a handful of the awards it has won in shows on the west coast.
Fantastic original sales brochure.
paint colors...
Accessories.
here is a small feature on the car in a Japanese VW magazine when the car
was displayed at the VW Classic in California.
Ohhh...back to the tires... I love this sort of thing so bear with me while
I drool on them a little more.
mmmmmmmm....
Am I wrong here?
This car is beautiful!
This is a great car and I sure hope whoever gets it is as in love with
it as I am.
if I was one of those wealthy guys with a big warehouse full of cars...this
would have never hit the website.
Alas...that is not the case so I can only watch it go through and off to
some collection somewhere.
Is it going to yours?
