1967 Porsche 912 "Barn Find"
This Southern California based 67 Porsche is a barn fresh
discovery that has been sitting a very long time and is ready for its new life.
Extremely complete and numbers matching , it is the ideal basis for a restoration
or would make a pretty neat car just running it as it is.
The body appears extremely straight and again, the completeness of it is a big bonus.
The car has not been cleaned since its emergence from its long time tomb,
the current owner wanted to leave it just as it is and let the new owner have the pleasure of
"unwrapping" it from Mother Nature's blanket of dust and age.
The car is running but not ready for the road.
There is a clean title and a Porsche certification that shows it
all as numbers matching and still in its original colors.
The seller has provided us with a TON of detailed pics of all the good and bad.
I wont comment on every image, but I am thankful for his detailed representation
of it so that potential buyers know exactly what it is they are getting.
It appears that there was an engine fire that was most likely the reason it was parked many years ago.
The fire seems to have been just on the drivers side bank of the engine.
The up side of a fire (if there is such a thing) is that it was probably running when this happened. Since this photo was taken the owner has done a bit of work to get it running and he
was able to get it to start, run and idle!
The car will need additional work to be roadworthy of course
but the engine being a runner is a massive bonus.
Odometer reads 18,731 miles...no documentation at all of the actual mileage
Its probably wise to assume that it has turned over the 100k level at some point in the past.
Still original upholstery by the looks of it
Key is still in the ignition
Nice Blaupunkt radio
I love the red interior with the white exterior...so cool.
Would be very tempting to keep the interior all original and just do an exterior paint job
just to maintain that originality.
April of 67 build
Numbers all matching as documented by Porsche
Colors also documented as original
Light Ivory with Red leatherette
So who is up for a challenge?
This 912 deserves to be rescued and revived so it
can live on well into the future. The car is so complete and untouched.
The rust issues are what they are and of course the car needs some
further mechanical attention to make it a driver
but the end result and satisfaction of bringing it back to glory are a noble goal indeed!
Go for it!
