1967 VW Double Cab Transporter Project For Sale

This one is a non-running project truck that is located in
Southern California.

1967 is a special year in the world of VW and for the Double Cab even more so.
The final year for the German made split screen body, first year for standard 12volt electrics
and so much more.

This one is a project, its got some rust and had an engine fire that blistered
a lot of the paint on the back end. Its been cleaned and sealed with a matching white enamel
but it really deserves a proper restoration and repaint.

The body overall appears pretty straight and is very complete.
Looks like a was a good looking driver before the fire and it most certainly
will be again after the repairs and whatever restoration the next caretaker wants to do.

The bed has some crusty bits as well as the lower edges of the gates, but it all repairable.

The rocker panels are rusty as well and have had sub standard repairs at some point in its past.

There are a few rust blisters and rust holes under the vents on the drivers side.

The rear bumper has a good bend to it in the center and the rear apron
appears  to have been trimmed to clear an aftermarket exhaust.

Roof looks nice on the truck and the drip rails too seem good.
Nice steel roof rack comes with the truck.

The wide rear window is a big bonus for visibility over the earlier models.

Drivers side rocker has been poorly repaired in the past
as evident by the lack of pinch seam at the bottom which would be there originally.

SOTO sticker!

The bed is intact but is crusty. It will need a good media blast and perhaps some patching.

Another view of the drivers side rocker

Glass all seems good and there appears to be no big blow outs around the window rubber.

One blister spot noticed towards the center window post on the drivers side, but it appears minimal

Base of the nose behind the bumper looks surprisingly decent.
Front bumper is scratched up.

Bed close up

The back half of the bed was pretty cooked from the engine fire.
The color matched paint put on it hides it a bit, but
its obvious up close and the area should be stripped and properly repaired

Same here on the passenger side...you can see the area from the gas door back
has just been covered up with paint to seal it and prevent further rust.

The paint on the cab and the rest of the Bus is in fair shape and has some shine to it.
There are some scratches on the nose that were touched up.

Its definitely a 10 footer...looks pretty decent when you stand back.
Its at least clean enough looking at that s=distance that the neighbors
wont complain when it hits your driveway.

Good radial tires on the original rims with painted hubcaps

Love that rack!

Definite crusty bit on the passenger side rear corner.

Interior is complete.

Front floors show signs of repair

Drivers side front seat has a rip on the outside edge

Divider wall looks clean

Dash is clean and unmodified.

M Code tag spells out the options and original data.

Correct rear seat and seat stand.
Headliner has been painted body color

67 was the only year for the wider radio hole and the rubber dash knobs.

Love that back seat!

The engine in the truck is a dual port 1600cc that unfortunately caught fire.
It is stuck and will not turn. Probably best to replace but may be rebuildable.

Underneath shots show some active rust and signs of past repair

Jack points and outriggers need work

The seam at the bottom edge of the nose needs some clean up and repair

Definitely needs some welding underneath
but the proper repair parts are readily available these days
and would not be too horrible to replace.

Underside shot of front floor

Overall frame appears sound

So this one is going to take some work to be a driver again.
Its been sitting for years and Im sure brakes and all systems will need to be addressed.

Its a truck though that is well deserving of a restoration.
Or I suppose you could just get it running and driving and cruise it as is.

Nothing quite like a double cab!
Definitely a beloved and desired model.

Are you up for a project?
This one needs a LOT, but its still a good place to start to build a dream truck.
