1961 VW Beetle Ragtop Cal Look For Sale

This traditional Cal Look style 61 ragtop was built in Southern California
over several years and using some of the best parts and skilled hands available.

The plan was simple, clean and fast.
The owner wanted something nice enough to show but a proper beast on the race track.

When first completed around 2013 or so the car was raced just a few times.
Here at Fontana wheels up at the starting line. Made it into the 12 second quarter mile range
which is moving pretty fast for a VW.

Another pic from Irwindale launching hard off the line.

The racing was minimal, just a handful of events to really just give it the beans and see what it would do.
After that it was back to street use and was eventually sold to a new owner
and has bounced around between a couple others.

The car currently resides in New Mexico in the hands of an enthusiast that
bought the car at auction last year.  He's driven it minimally
and has decided its time to send it on its way to a new home.

It really has that perfect "Cal Look" from the early days.
Shaved chrome, one piece side windows, T bar bumpers
Even the hood handle and turn signals removed for that super clean look.

Super clean and simple...yet very well done.

Cal Look style window rubber without the groove for the chrome trim.

Nice T bar bumpers...even the horn grilles were removed on the fenders.

Awesome Talbot style bullet side view mirror.

Running boards have the only trim that is on the car.

Very nice BRM replica wheels on studs instead of lug bolts.

Very clean dash and instrumentation.
Empi GT wood steering wheel

Nice low back bucket seats with "fat biscuit" style stitching and racing belts.

Classic stance with the nose down and tail up.

Polished stainless performance exhaust by A1 Performance.

Deck lid stand offs are another classic Cal Look style choice.

Very clean car

Note the lack of wipers on the car...in fact only one wiper perch
remains as the passenger side one was chaves and filled.

Looks so smooth with the horn grilles, turn signals and chrome all removed.

Correct 61 glass lens taillights

It sure sits nice!

Ragtop sunroof done in tan canvas.

Interior looks nice!

Gene Berg shifter, Empi GT wheel, Auto Meter Monster tach on the dash.

Looks like a staging brake with the blue knob.

Odometer reads 84k miles and change.
Certainly far far less on it since the restoration.

Roll cage in back and rear seat delete.

Headliner has been cleanly fitted but has been omitted from underside of the sunroof.
