1966 VW Beetle Convertible For Sale

This So Cal based 66 Convertible was lovingly restored back in the 1990's and
has been garage stored and driven very minimally by its owner.

Recently pulled out from the garage by the son of the owner
(who did the restoration years ago) and it has been fully gone through and sorted
and is running and looking as sweet as it ever has.

A recent color sand and polish session has brought back a fantastic shine
(not that it was bad at all before...but its amazing what a fresh touch can do)

Lots of great parts used during the build including many NOS parts
sourced by the restorer, that at the time was working for a legendary vintage VW parts shop
in Orange County California.

Glass is excellent, rubber all looks great and has the correct metal trim.

Very nice stock and classic look to the car.

Original German bumpers!

Top is in very nice condition!

Trim all looks nice

Correct slotted wide 5 wheels used on 1966 and 1967 models exclusively

Accessory gravel guards

A few small flaws if you look closely...a little ding here in the bumper, etc, but still very presentable

Hard to imagine the restoration is as old as it is, but the fact that it still look so nice
is a testament for the quality of the restoration and the care it has had over the years.

A few pits in the chrome window frame on the passenger side rear.

Clean title and current registration

Engine is a very strong low mileage 1600cc dual port that has been converted to 12 volt electrics
and is super clean and well sorted.

Very clean!

Rain tray and everything is in place and well restored.

Cool cast aluminum "D" tag on the bumper

Looks like the engine was built from a new case
and loaded with new parts as well.
By "new" I mean barely used.
Even though much of this was installed years ago, it all has very low mileage and is in great shape.

Nice to see all the proper engine seals and hardware in place as well.
The restorer was pretty fanatical about stuff, and it shows.

Here is the VW logo stamp on the inside of the rear bumper.

Taillight lenses were NOS German Hella parts

VW logo mudflaps

Interior looks really sharp

Stock style two tone vinyl door panels.

Clean and un-cut dashboard

Locking shifter, plush carpets

Headliner and seats are done in a matching tweed material.

Very nice condition!!

Seats have the matching tweed on the seating surfaces and vinyl on the sides.
New seat belts were installed at the time of the restoration and they have the Wolfsburg crest logo on the buckle.

Locking glove box door with accessory pull tab.

Nice flower vase in the center and a clean factory radio in the dash,

Some maint los along the door sills where the carpet holding strip sits.

There are a couple of spots in the paint that in the right light you can see slight cracks below the surface
from shrinking of the paint materials over the years, but everything is holding firm and looks great.

So nice

The speedometer was restored and reset at the time of the restoration, so the mileage
at the time of these photos (taken 4/24/2022) reads 5525 miles.

Clean!

Nice accessory shift lock allows the shifter to be locked either in neutral, or in reverse gear.

Under the front hood is super clean as well

Beautiful

Some roughness to the bottom of the spare tire well, but solid

There are seams mid way through the front quarter panel
that show signs of the front clip of the body being replaced.
This was very cleanly done work,

Same on the passenger side.
Not a flawless repair from the interior view here of course, but from the outside you would never know.

Heater channel and support rails look very solid

Looks like a section under the battery has been patched in the pan.
Not pretty but functional

Very nice and dry under the engine and transmission!

Fender wells were all nicely undercoated
Hardware was left clean for easy service and removal if ever needed.

Top down and ready for that summer drive

A very pretty car

Small paint chip on one of the fenders

Tiny crack at the top of the door

Some more underside shots

Even the interior light works!

Great car, well done and well kept.
This is one to fall in love with.
