1978 VW Super Beetle Convertible For Sale

SOLD!

This pretty machine comes to us from sunny Arizona.
The current owner bought it locally in 2010 and he has done a bit
to it to jazz it up a bit such as the new wheels and tires.

The car shows just over 65,000 miles on the odometer, but it is not
known for certain if this is original mileage on the car.

The car is in very clean condition inside and out and attracts a lot of smiles
and waves on the road.

The chrome is bright and shiny, the paint is clean, the top and interior are very nice.
It is a very good looking and good driving car and it is very solid underneath as well.

The car is always agaraged and is registered with historical vehicle plates.

The dash is in good shape.
The Blaupunkt CD player stereo is a modern upgrade
but other than that the car is quite stock and unmodified.

Dash pad looks excellent.

Seats are in nice shape.

Stock black "basket weave" vinyl.

The car is very solid underneath, the dry Arizona climate has served it well.

Tires have very good tread and are near new.

Some road grime but no real notable rust visible under here.

Headlight eyebrows are a fun little accessory that give the car some character.

Taillights look excellent.

Perhaps a stone chip or three if you look up close, but overall very clean and presentable.

Here on the bottom edge of the rear apront and fender there are a couple of paint flaws.

A little surface rust on the exhaust as to be expected.

This spot is way down low...you need to get down on the ground to see these paint cracks.
From above you really dont see them with the bumper and everything in place....but ther are there...proof that the car is not perfect!

Under the engine seems reasonably clean.
A little seepage under the drain plate but that is about it.
The pushrod tubes still have some shine to them which leads me to believe
it has had recent engine work...heads look clean up in there too.

The exhaust is the factory unit with the catalytic convertor.

Chrome on the bumpers looks excellent.

Smooth and straight down the sides.

A little bit of wear to the carpet on the drivers side but otherwise very nice inside.

Another  "looking really close" paint flaw behind the passenger side top door hinge.

There is a small crack in the windshield unfortunately but it stops right at wiper height
so the owner has just lived with it like this.

Looks clean in the trunk area up front.

Stock spare wheel and tire in the well.

Good fit and finish to the body panels...door gaps and all look good.
Really appears to be a very solid example.

Karmann body badge is present.

The top is very nice and is done in canvas which gives it a very classy look.

Inside the back seat area looks clean.
There are speakers mounted under the back seat here in the kick panels.

Rear seat is in very good shape...just a bit of dust.

Here you can see the speakers more clearly.
The vinyl on the edge of this panel is coming loose just a bit...this could be re-glued pretty easy I would think.

Front seats in nice shape with firm padding.

Central controls are clean

A little glue residue if you look deep under the dash where the carpet stops.

Floor mats are in use to protect the carpets.

Here you can see the bit of wear on the drivers side,,,just coming loose a bit.
Perhaps this could be glued down a bit to keep it from coming apart further,

The headliner has a bit of grime going on from driving with the top down.
Give this a good scrub to clean it up and get a boot for the top and it will stay much cleaner.

No holes or damage fortunately...just needs a little cleaning!

Odometer shows just over 65,000 miles.
Actual mileage on the car is not documented.

Original production sticker in the door jam.
Built in September of 1978 and the original paint color is white.

The little knob for the seat release on the drivers side has come loose.
These are readily available through the parts houses.

Door panels look nice.

Good door gaps.

Really a nice looking car.

I love the polished 8 spoke aluminum wheels...they really look good on here.

Here is another under hood shot...quite clean!

The 1600cc dual port engine is now carburated instead of the original fuel injection.
This makes service much much easier and it runs very well.

The only issue with the removal of the fuel injection is that in California, the car will not pass the visual
part of the smog inspection. Most US states dont have this fortunately, but before you buy, just to play it safe,
please check with your local authorities to check.

Here is a very nice interior shot...looks great and that dash pad is excellent!
(these are so often cracked from the sun!)

The padding in the seats looks very firm and everything is fit properly.

Nice.

Just a good clean convertible ready for play!

So nice.

Even top up it looks fantastic.
(but top down is so much more fun!)

Nice example

The car is kept out of the sun, either in the garage or under a cover in the car port.
This has served it very well.

In closing this looks like a good one to me.
Nice top, nice interior, good paint and body, very solid underneath
and the owner states it is an excellent runner and driver.
