Ho Hum...another Super Beetle Convertible...
What at first glance may appear to be just a basic old car is really much
much more.
Lets dive right underneath and I will show you what is really going on here.
This car has received a full and complete top to bottom restoration.
Very clean below...everything like new.
No rust in the pans...excellent
The underside was pretty impressive for a 79 model and the top side has no
dissappointments either.
Superb quality paint andbody, chrome is all top notch as well.
Really everything is as new.
I always look for something that is not right, any variation from original
and I did find a couple details on this one (just because it is my goal)
The taillight bases are black...and should be silver.
(I know I know...big whoop)
The interior is also not original but I must say after spending many hours
in old VW seats
this interior is a vast improvement.
The Scat Pro-car seats are great andthe matching rear seat and door panels
make for an attarctive combination.
Headliner looks good. Rear window defroster is uncommon.
Correct steel "Sport" wheels with the proper finish and caps and lug covers.
Beautifully detailed even in the gas door.
You can peek in past the wheel into the fenderwell and see the shiny paint...it
is really nice.
The 79 fuel injection engine is fully and properly equipped and is impressively
clean.
Excellent runner and driver.
Top and headliner are all new...top frame is properly detailed and all new
seals installed.
Excellent
Dash is very clean, carpets excellent..
Rear seat upholstery matches the front seats as do the panels.
Under the front hood is show detailed as well.
Trunk liner in place..
Car is located in Rhode Island as the plate suggests.
The story of the car is a great one. It has always been in the same family
since new. The current owner's father in law bought it
in 79 and the original sales paperwork is included. The car sat unused
for about 11 years at one point and over the past
two and a half years the complete restoration was done. It was recently completed
and now that it is done, it is time to send it off
to the next family.
The restoration was done by a company called 401 Restos and there are photos
of the restoration process
on the company's website. The did a very sweet job of it indeed.
The dash is very clean and has the proper wood pattern and the proper 79
steering wheel.
The speaker panels below the dash are not stock but are tastefully done.
Mechanically it is all fresh as well.
Disc brakes have been added to the front for safety, the rest of the mechanicals
and underpinnings are all factroy stock.
If you are looking for a 79 Convertible that is probaby better than new...this
is a great choice.
We see original low mileage examples from time to time and they are quite
special
but with everything being over 30 years old, no matter what the mileage...things
deteriorate.
This car is all new from top to bottom and the quality shows.
It costs a lot these days to do a restoration to this level...and keeping
that in mind this is a very good buy for the money.
