1971 VW Super Beetle Sedan For Sale!
The paint is a dark green...the builder called it British Racing Green,
but it looks a little darker than that to me.
The restoration was done just 4 years ago and it looks like it was well
done.
Its well fitted with some tastefull accessories such as the hood handle
trim, gas door trim, vent shades
and door handle trims. The running boards are the nice heavy polished billet
aluminum versions.
The wheels are fairly rare aluminum rims more commonly seen on the 914
Porsche.
Windows are tinted at 25%, window rubbers and other body seals are in nice
shape.
Sighting down the side in this photo it sure looks like nice paint and
body work.
The owner did mention a couple of stone chips that have been carefully
touched up
but that is about it as far as wear and tear.
The interior was all done at the time of the resto
and nice quality parts were used.
Door panels are stock black vinyl, door handles are billet aluminum.
Door corner gauards and threshold trims jazz things up a bit.
Seats are done in velour from Sewfine, and they looks very nice in front
and back.
Headliner was all redone as well...visors look new too.
Tight and clean. Nice to see the assist straps and coat hooks in place.
Rear seat is clean as well...carpets are all in very good condition as
well.
Here you can see the Empi threshold plates and edge trims.
Seat frames look nice and clean...appears to be very nicely detailed.
Dash features the stock Sapphire radio, which works!
Auxillary oil temp gauge in the dash is a nice safety feature.
Modern steering wheel with Wolfsburg horn push also adds some style.
Odometer reads in the 30k range, but only about 3000 miles have been put
on the car since it's
restoration and the engine rebuild. So it has a lot of life left in it
to be sure!
New dash pad is in good shape but does suffer from the common sag under
the glovebox door.
Dash plaque from a local show on the glovebox door...this is a car that
is clean enough to bring to those
events and I am certain it gets a fair amount of attention on the roads.
Looks like the original color was green, as you can see under the dash.
The respray was in a darker
shade that has a very nice classy look.
Under the front trunk is very clean with a well fitted trunk mat.
The license plate in there is an original 71 Texas plate...currently it
is registered with collector plates.
The car was first sold in California to a member of the military and the
car travelled with him
during his assorted assignements around the world.
The car was given to their daughter who
relocated to Texas .
The stock jack is present and a nice upper strut tower brace
has been installed to give it a little more stiffness in the corners.
The engine is a 1776cc dual port unit with a single carb.
12 volt alternator, all quite clean and tidy and it reportedly runs and
drives excellent.
Only about 3000 miles on the engine!
Looks reasonably clean and dry underneath.
Floorpans were repaired during the restoration with the proper metal panels.
The chassis was treated with Por-15 to keep it all nice and solid for years
to come.
The wheels are very nice vintage units that have been well polished.
The stamped VW logo center caps are awesome.
This is not a common wheel these days!
Tires are excellent on all four corners.
In closing this is a very clean "early Super".
the owner is snapping a few more photos of it for me to add here on the
site
but from what I am seeing so far...it looks like a gem!
