1953 VW Beetle Custom Sedan For Sale

If you are one of those enthusiasts that truly wants the best of the best, you should really take
a close look at this stellar car.  It is a truly over the top build in every respect and the end result
seriously ranks in the top 10 of all the Beetles we have ever had on the website before.
The level of detail and subtle custom details just knocked me silly.
The more I looked, the more I liked.

First...let me address the elephant in the room.
This is not an original split sunroof car.
Got that?  OK...lets move forward.

The interior of this car is freakin incredible.
The soft leather, that smell and the truly meticulous installation is at a level
far and above what is normally seen in the VW world.
Wait till you see the details as we go further through the images.

Truly timeless wheel choice with fully detailed Porsche alloys.

Center caps look awesome

Square weave carpets, chromed and polished pedal assembly

Split rear window with "Zwitter only" aluminum trim.

The sunroof is a beautifully done two fold unit in high quality canvas with squared corners
to match with the style of the early cars. It operates smoothly and it wonderfully tight.

A quick peek underneath, everything is like new.
I dig the dual horns too...very fun touch.

Split bumpers.

Insane wiring detail under the hood.

Porsche instrumentation is dead sexy.

Check out this amazing one off machined "speaker grille" instrument bezel.
Absolutely stellar work.

Another quick peek below...fenders treated with a stone resistant coating and color finished for a very clean look.
Stainless hardware.

"Heart" taillights.

Grooved split handles.
Look at that stitch work...wow!

Door pockets are awesome!!

Impressive under hood detailing

Just a stellar car and I love the colors.

The custom touches are so numerous but you need to look carefully to see them.
One of my favorites is this little center console/armrest that has a built in plug and pocket for your iPod
Look at how tight and beautiful the craftsmanship is here as well.

Arc audio unit hidden under the rear seat.
Speakers are all hidden, it is super cool.

Pop out quarter windows.

Empi GT steering wheel

Detailed latches

Porsche headlights

Check out that hinge cap!
I have never seen this done and it looks soooo sweet.

The interior...the colors, the smell, the firmness of the seats and perfection of the install.
Super high class stuff here.

Semaphores are functional and are set up to flash as well!

Perfect stance

Split bumpers, split hood handle...very nice early touches.

Rock solid and all fresh underneath of course.

OK...look at this closely...see anything that looks a little out of the ordinary?

Impressive fabrication here with mounts and supports...and that is a 5 speed transmission people.
1-2-3-4-5 !

Light layer of road dust underneath...perhaps time for a little wipe down before the next show,
but the car was built to be driven and is nicely sorted and ready for fun.

Convertible locking hood latch.
Nice choice with the color match...really blends in.

The car has a clean California title and is registered as a 1953 to the chassis number on this tag.
Technically looking up this number in the books, it is a 54, but 53 certainly matches the theme better.

It is a beautiful blend of parts and details and the build quality is exceptionally high.

Deep 6's out back wrapped in Continental rubber

The wiring is a true work of art and with the use of the cloth coverings gives it just enough "vintage"
style to not clash with the rest of the car.
Porsche instruments are all functional.
Check out the hydraulic hood struts on the hinges as well.

The squared corners on the sunroof was a brilliant choice.
Really gives it that "three fold" look.

Gorgeous

And here is the BIG surprise.
Yes folks...that is a Porsche engine out back.
This fully built and tuned 356/912 engine is mated to a 5 speed transmission with gearing done
to match the Porsche gearing as close as possible.
Big dual Weber cars are topped with Porsche air cleaners.

12 volt electrics, impressive detailing.
Again the cloth covered wiring is a wonderful touch.

Chromed oil filter give a little bit of a hot rod touch.
6 volt decal on the coil is a nice vintage nod.

The Knecht air cleaners custom fit to the Webers is a great choice.

BR 18 distributor, very clean case and hardware finishes throughout.

Very neat French Porsche tag on the top of the fan shroud.

I have not looked up the numbers on the engine to date the case...but here it is.
The engine sounds fantastic and runs strong.
A very delightful driver.

Fuel filter

Decklid latch
Rear apron is easily removable with dzus fasteners.

Convertible deck lid with the louvers

Super clean everywhere you look.
Metal hood trim channel has been shaved and the seal put on the hood itself.

Windshield glass, seals and trim are all spotless

That wiring again...wow.

Headliner fit is excellent

I love the choice of a "standard" style headliner with the painted window posts and rear window area.

So clean

This is a big money interior here!

Clean clean clean

False floor in the luggage area conceals the audio system speakers.

Another underbelly detail shot

Central tunnel on the pan under the seat.

I tried to get a clear shot of the chassis number but was unable to.
I'm not sure if the pan was powder coated , but the finish has apparently
filled in the stamping.  I wasn't about to grab the sandpaper on someone else's showpiece
so Ive gotta go with the number on the tag up front, which does match the title.

Super clean and well trimmed

I love the choice of the Porsche powerplant.
Unexpected, tasteful and classy.  A much more refined sound and drive than a hot VW engine as well.

Sunroof slides open easily...very well sorted.

Obviously well stored in a nice surrounding.

Glove box pull is another subtle touch.

Beautiful steering wheel

Door pulls are also another nice addition

Battery cut off switch under the back seat

Love those heart taillights!

I really cant say enough about this one.
I knew that it was a nice car when the owner sent me the first few photos, but when I went and saw it with my own eyes
it really impressed me. This is not your normal "resto-Cal" ride here...this is a whole lot more!
