1970 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale

This bright happy red 1970 Beetle is located in Fort Pierce Florida.
It has been a work in progress for the owner who took it on as a bit of a
hobby project. It was being driven daily until his retirement a couple years ago
and since it has been fired up and run around the block once a week or so.

The cosmetics on the outside are very nice, the paint looks great and there is quite a few new parts.

Its a great color red and the finish is very glossy as you can see.
Body looks nice and straight and smooth.

Very stock in appearance with the standard steel wheels and hubcaps.

This was never intended to be a show car, just a clean driver.
When it was painted not all parts were removed...small things such as the washer nozzle and wiper shafts
got their coat of red at the same time.

Running boards look great.

Some bits were re-used such as the turn signal chrome...it shows some pits.
Either swap them out for better ones when you find some or have these re-plated
if this is the sort of detail that bothers you.

Some age to the old parts as would be expected.

Handles look pretty good.

Door seals look to be OK

New fender beading was installed...the bumper brackets and seals look nice

Hood handle looks like a new one.

Glass and wipers look very good.

The window rubber was replaced with the smooth chrome-less style seals.

Looks like a couple of hairline paint cracks coming off the engine lid handle.

The paint finish looks really nice though...check out this reflection...nice and smooth.

New antenna

Wheels have been cleanly painted in silver and new hubcaps installed.

Quite clean

Now on to the interior...
The interior was "next on the list" to do.
As you can see the original headliner has some age spots.

The door  panels look recent but I do see that the material is coming off the board just a little in the corners.
Interior paint is fresh as well...overspray on the rubber parts in the door jam.

The side reflector on the drivers side taillight is a bit faded..

Visors look new.

Headliner is actually holding up pretty well for original material...it may clean up a bit too with some scrubbing.

Dash pad is new...radio hole and grille areas have not been cut out.
Steering wheel looks pretty clean.

The seats need a little assistance to be spot-on right.
It looks like newer seat covers in brown vinyl have been installed but they are a bit loose.
Perhaps so re-padding of the seat would help this.
On the drivers side a cloth seat cover is in place for comfort.

Rear seat bottom looks to be installed backwards (simple fix)
The material again is a bit loose but in nice condition.

Pretty clean.

Looks like some carpet was installed, but not a perfect fit.

The seatcovers could pretty easily be stretched and re-attached to greatly improve the fit.

The rear speaker deck is a nice thing.

Center console and some rubber mats from somewhere are keeping the carpet safe.

Passenger side taillight is missing the reflector.

Underside of engine lid has been undercoated black.
The lid has the rain tray fitted to help keep the weather off the engine.

The engine is a good running 1600cc dual port.
12 volt electrics, mechanical advance distributor, etc.
It looks pretty clean in here for the most part...not all greasy or dirty.

The material along the side of the engine room looks to be  coming loose just a bit and the fuel filter is in need of a change
(looks a little dark in these pics!) but the owner states that the car runs and drives well.

Under the front hood in the spare tire well area it looks to be pretty solid.

The underside of the hood is painted cleanly.

A trunk liner installed, but a bit warped from moisture.
Hood latch is not installed on the apron.

The underside of the car looks pretty untouched.

Just basic old car grime...

Under the engine itself it looks pretty dry...has signs of a recent rebuild based on the cleanliness of the heads and pushrod tubes.

The floorpans are a bit hard to assess in this photo...looks like there is some heavy undercoating
under those cobwebs. Im hoping the owner can send some clearer images from under here.

Bumpers look good, apron looks straight along the leading edge.

Here is a small chip in the paint.

Stand back a few feet and she's a beauty queen!

Over all very attractive...a great car to buy and drive as is and improve upon as you see fit.

In closing this looks to be a pretty clean Beetle.
It has room for improvement if you wanted to make it nicer, or it is attractive and fine as is for
a fun driver and weekend toy. It is priced reasonably and the owners have far more invested in it
than they will get out of it...but that is a pretty common thing it seems!
