1971 VW "Super Busser" Camper

Now for something completely different!
Check out this insane Bay window camper!

If you are a VW sicko like most of us you may have heard of an RV based on the VW Beetle
called the "Super Bugger". This is that little fella's big brother!

From the cabin it seems like a normal VW bus

But once you walk through to the back, its a whole different world!

Swanky 70;s panelling and flooring back here..total time warp.

Nifty table and seats for your dining pleasure

Plenty of storage

Old school thermostat and battery level meter

Such a cool rustic charm to the inside of this thing

Closet

Kitchen

Sleeping quarters in back

Battery access through the side

Upright VW engine out back that has been run off an alternate fuel source
(as you can see in this pic) but it is not road worthy at this time.
This vehicle has just recently been pulled out of storage and will need a proper servicing
and some additional work to get this on the highway again.
The current owner has started it and moved it under its own power and the brakes did work for him
so that is a great start.  The engine size and history is unknown.

Oil cooler and fan

Wheel arches look nice and solid.

Dash is intact and looks like it will clean up well

Couple cracks in the dash pad, steering wheel has its cover and there is a nice original radio in the dash.

Front seats of unknown origin but they sure fir the space and style well.

Paint looks decent, deluxe trim on the doors.

Nice big trucker mirrors for visibility past the big ol box out back.

Wild

And even wilder when ya step back from it.

Big storage basket out back for your bicycles or whatever.

Side awning mounted along the top

What a crazy beast...I love it.

Too fun!

"Dont go fallin in love with it Clark...I'm taking it with me when I leave in a month"

The shitter is NOT full on this rig though...at least I dont think it is.

Underside looks solid but with a bot of surface rust

Looks like a recent tie rod installed up front

No power brake booster as one would expect in a 1971, but it does have disc brakes up front.

Frame and heater tube extension is wild

Fuel tank is disconnected as you can see from the hanging hose.
Will need to be removed and cleaned, or replaced.

Wide rear wheels

This is a project, but as you can see it is a nice complete vehicle in pretty reasonable shape.
I dont think it would take a ton of money to get this back on the road and be a start at every campsite you stop at.

The Super Busser could be yours!
