1971 Karmann Ghia Convertible For Sale

There is really nothing quite like a nice red Ghia convertible and this one is a real gem.
The restoration of the car was done about 15 years ago believe it or not, and it still looks totally fresh
as if it was completed last month.

Located here in Southern California, it appears to be a very solid example and it has obviously had a lot
of love and attention put into it.

Done very stock inside and out with only the most minor deviations
from factory equipment (chrome wheels, etc)

The tan interior looks fantastic against the red exterior...a classic combo that always grabs the eye.

Seat upholstery is excellent...

Top frame is nicely detailed and all new rubber seals.

Original VW glass in the front is a rare find these days!

The bumpers were installed without the original chrome guards for a very clean look.
The guards could certainly be re-installed if you wanted it totally stock...but it sure looks smooth this way!

Speaking of smooth...the rockers on the car look very straight and solid.

The wheels are chrome and slightly wider than stock.
The Wolfsburg crest hubcaps are another unique little add on.

Boy she's a pretty one!

Dash pad is excellent, everything is very cleanly fitted.

All nice fresh looking window rubbers and seals.

Looks like new top cables, etc..

The red seatbelts are a nice contrast to the tan seats...

Rear luggage area is cleanly carpeted.

New hinge covers on each side.

Top up it is still a looker.
Top is a nice quality canvas job with the original folding glass rear window.

All the body seals look good...nice to see clean lenses on the lisc light and such.
This was not a quickie respray like you see so often.

Engine number...

The engine itself is a very clean and rebuilt 1600cc dual port with all the factory bits in place.
This car runs excellent!!

Very clean in the engine room corners.

Original air filter unit is in place

Battery area looks clean as well.

Rain tray is present under the lid.

Looks sharp doesn't it?
It runs as well as it looks too.

Original production sticker in the door jam.

Headliner and visors very nice.

Steering wheel and horn ring.

Vin tag on the dash.

Door seals look new, etc

Instruments are clean...dash is painted body color.

New striker plates on the door jams.

12 volt sticker in the jam is another nice detail.

The horn grilles

Nose looks very straight and smooth...chrome is excellent.

Body is very straight down the sides...nice quality paintwork.

Front end looks clean

Angle of this photo is off but from the inside of the nose you can see that there has been some hammer work done, but I must say, they did a mighty fine job of it.
The filler is not thick on the nose of this one!
Check out the new horns and the boot.

On the hood hinge in the back edge you can see just a hint of the original blue color peeking out
this is really one of only a couple spots where you can catch a peek.

Nice under the trunk lid.

Hood latch was painted over...but I bet you could clean that off and the
thing would look pretty nice under there based on what I see peeking out.

Nose emblem has been detail painted in red...

Nicely fit trunk carpet.

Spare tire cover too.

Handbrake and heater controls are painted red as well.

Shifter too with a custom stitched shift boot.

Carpet is well fit and in excellent condition.

Clean.

Door panels are nice.

In the crevice here of the body line I noticed some very slight paint lifting. It has not broken or cracked and seems quite firm
but if you catch it at just the right angle you can see it.

Headliner is excellent.

Original AM/FM radio in the dash.

Chassis looks very solid on this car!

Underside of the engine is quite clean.

Nice performance exhaust that sticks out through the factory location...so it looks pretty stock
but has a little deeper rumble to it.
Ceramic coated too, so it will stay clean and shiny like this.

The transmission was recently rebuilt!

Sorry for the glare...drivers side of the chassis looks solid too.

Nice body finish to this car.

Blue California plates...good chrome.

Top is excellent.

Window rubber is good.

Tires are excellent as well.

In closing this is really a nice little Ghia.
Well restored and very clean. Nice attention to detail, not a quickie job.
Someone took their time and spent the money and in the end the car is a very good piece.
You may find a cheaper one out there, but if you look deep you will realize what a value this one is.
