1956 Oval Ragtop For Sale

This Washington State based 1956 Oval ragtop is a sweet ride.
It was a body off full restoration build done in California in the early 2000's
Its been well kept and cared for since with minimal miles and still shows quite nice.

Very classic "Resto Cal Look" build with all factory trim and details remaining in place.
Painted a stock VW color and of course featuring the desirable sunroof

Lowered suspension, Porsche alloy wheels, Euro style bumpers and pop out quarter windows.

A convertible only "W" decklid has been installed with the cooling vents to allow for more air to
the performance drivetrain underneath the lid.

Decklid is popped open just slightly with a latch extender to also allow more cooling air into the engine compartment

Bullet front turn signals, owner states the sheet metal is all factory.

Euro bumper guards give it a clean look.
Front apron retains the factory holes for the over riders should the US spec bumpers ever be desired

Very nice paint and good fit and finish to the car.

Bright chrome and trim work, everything very clean

Wolfsburg crest on the hood

Accessory pop out quarter windows are awesome with the sunroof.
Really lets the air flow through nicely.

Rear fenders also retain the holes for the over rider tubes if you wanted to put US spec bumpers on.

Love the convertible decklid with those louvers...so cool

1956 Washington plate is a cool touch as well

Snowflake taillights

Very nice

Pop out windows have the early large SEKURIT logos as well

Euro fluted headlight lenses are cool as well

Front end remains very clean !
Not all peppered with stone chips or anything.
Another sign of good care and minimal miles since completion.

Correct "4 tab" hood and flat emblem in place.

Excellent glass, rubber and trim.

Two post antenna

Window frames and rubber look great

Interior is clean with a well appointed dash and some nice accessories

Square weave carpets, clean door jams

Windlace on the drivers door post is starting to come loose, but looks to be an easy repair

Box speakers are removable, or can be put in another spot.

Interior is all done in a nice grey tweed with contrasting piping

Scat Procar seats are a great fit and are very comfortable

Bambus parcel tray and accessory fuel tap extension.

Early large logo pedal pads and a roller pedal for the gas.

Nice quality carpet shows well and remains in great shape

Rubber lats are also in excellent shape

The Scat seats are very comfy
A nice upgrade from the flat originals.

Door panels are cleanly done

Door pocket on the drivers door is coming loose a little along the bottom.

Very nice color choice, subtle and simple.

Headliner could be a bit tighter in my opinion.
And those speaker boxes would have to go behind the seat, even though I'm sure they sound better here.

A little discoloration on the top of the drivers side rear panel

Nice leather wrap on the factory steering wheel

Small crack visible here

Correct "clear needle" speedometer
(yellowed a bit from age obviously)

Sunroof handle

Correct early sun visors

Motorola "Big M" radio is period correct and looks great in the car.

The tunes however are provided by an Alpine head unit cleanly fitted and hidden behind the glove box door

Even the ashtray is clean

Very clean

These Scat seats also recline!

Under the front hood is also cleanly detailed and upholstered.

Alpine amps, nicely finished fuel tank, original jack and a matching Porsche alloy spare.

Hood has been fitted with with an additional seal along the edge
in addition to the factory rubber in the channel along the body.

Proper 4 tab hood with side prop

Light tube too

Nicely done

Matching detailed Porsche wheel up front

Factory jack

Looks like the correct front apron as well

Out back is a well built and potent power plant!

Looks like the right rear apron as well

Displacement is 2275cc built by Robert Ham featuring a Gene Berg bottom end
balanced rotating assembly , CB Performance heads and camshaft.
Heads have been ported and polished and the manifolds topped by
the legendary Weber 48ida carburetors.

Berg linkage, balanced crank pully, powder coated tins.

Big 48 Webers are topped with velocity stacks and screens

Oil filler/breather is a nice addition as well

Bosch 009 distributor,, 12 volt alternator

And the fan shroud and tins retain the heater tubes,

Underside is very clean and solid!

Benco freeway flyer geared transaxle is fitted with Swayaway axles,
performance mid mount and Jaycee adjustable spring plates.

Wilwood disc brakes up front on a narrowed beam.

A1 stainless 1 5/8 exhaust looks and sounds great

Dropped spindles with disc brakes

Cross drilled rotors too as well as braided stainless brake lines.

Very clean under the engine and nice to see a performance engine built with a functional heater
for those cold mornings.

Adjustable spring plates

External oil filer routed up into the fender well

I love these A1 sidewinder exhausts, they perform well, sound great
and tuck in so well so your exhaust doesnt drag on steep driveways

Nice and dry under here as well

And back up top for a final walk around.
Nice car, and well built, as well as beeing well cared for.

Nothing quite like an Oval Rag...and one done with nice performance bits
and subtle modifications and additions is a timeless style.

Really a lot of car for the money and obviously when it was built the folks that did it
went all the way to build a super clean car that can be driven and enjoyed.
Im sure the new owner for this one is going to have a lot of fun behind the wheel.
