1960 VW Convertible EV Conversion For Sale

SOLD!!

Ready for summer fun?
How about a sweet red convertible with the added bonus of never needing to stop at a gas station?
Well...you have come to the right place. This one is electric!

Located in Northern California, this 60 Cabrio was converted to electric in 2014
It has been used sparingly as a fun occasional driver around town. It runs roughly 80 miles on a charge and is fully operational.

Here's the quick start for the operation of the car.
Simple.

The car is a clean "driver level" restoration, not a crazy show car, but very presentable.

Standard black vinyl interior that looks great against the red paintwork.

Out back though, this is no four banger, tweeter pipe power plant1

Converted to electric and restored by Dukes Garage of Westminster CO.
Powered by a 50hp 3phase motor connected via the 4 speed transmission.
The batteries are Lifep04 160Ah, and there are 34 of them connected in series for a nominal voltage of 112.2V.
The on board charger is a Elcon and can connect to 110V or 240V.
The BMS (Battery Management System) is manufactured by Boundless Corp and each battery is fitted with a control module.
The 3 phase motor controller is made by Curtis and is water cooled,
it also has a hand held controller to allow full control of functions like regen braking etc.

And its all wrapped in a pretty Beetle package.

Very stock in appearance from the exterior which makes things really fun.

In the place that normally the gas gauge would go, is the battery meter and tachometer.

More instruments tucked under the dash to the left of the steering wheel

And a DC volts gauge to the right of the steering column.

This guy is mounted where the factory ashtray sits.

Overall at first glance the dash looks stock and proper, its not until you look close at the instruments that you
realize something out of the ordinary is going on.

The installation of all the goodies is very well done.
The vents on the factory convertible deck lid have been sealed off to keep the rain out.

Under the front hood there is still room for the full size spare tire, but little else.

Behind the back seat is also packed full of batteries and wiring.
the batteries were tested in April 2017 and all are good (less than 100/2000 cycles)

The seat in place though and it covers it all nicely.

Stock steering wheel, a nice moder radio, seats and controls all look very clean.

The convertible top works well and is in good shape.

Nice condition all the way around.

Chrome wheels with Wolfsburg "nipple" hubcaps.

Bumpers are in nice shape.

Taillights are 1962-1967 models

Really a fun little car and with the EV conversion done, it will make a great weekend toy or in town market car.
Classic looks and style and modern clean power.
Is this the future?
