1970 Volkswagen Fridolin For Sale

Now here is a VW that we rarely see cross the pages of Oldbug,
This is a very low production genuine VW creation called the Type 147
or "Fridolin". These were built for use as light delivery vehicles
with the vast majority being used for the Postal Service in Germany and Switzerland.

Based on the Type 1 Karmann Ghia chassis, these were built by Westfalia
and only a small handful of them have made it to the shores of America.

This particular example was originally delivered to the German Postal Service
and when retired it went through private hands for a while until landing
with UK based Steve Gilbert who fully restored it at his well respected custom shop
called One on One Restorations.  The "Frid" was extremely well received, winning top awards and being featured
in Volksworld and other magazines around the globe.

The car came to the US a number of years ago and landed in Arizona where it lives today.
It has received a refresh and full professional respray of the lower body in a contrasting dark green
and has been maintained and worked on by truly the best in the business in the Arizona scene.

The engine is a very stout 2276cc beast with Italian 48 IDA Webers
Porsche style fan shroud and the best of the best internal parts.
Serviced by Competition Engineering, this runs strong and is very fun to drive.
Transmission was fully rebuilt with freeway flyer gearing and all the beefy bits to
handle the significant horsepower increase over the factory engine.

The car is very well kept and detailed even in the deepest corners of the engine room.

The interior as well shows beautifully with quality trim work and paint finish.
