1961 15 Window Deluxe Bus For Sale

One model of VW Bus that we get a LOT of calls for are the "15 Window", or non-sunroof Deluxe models up to 1963.
Over the past few years it has been very interesting to watch the interest in these Busses grow.
Production wise I think they are rarer than the 23 window models are, and while I doubt they will ever catch up to the 23's in vlue
I sure have seen that gap close a fair bit!!

This one is a  bit of a project, but a pretty darn good basis to work with.
Its pretty cool as it is if you are into the "patina scene" or dive in and take it all the way!

There are a few things here and there that are not "right" such as the Beetle speedometer and an extra toggle switch
but overall the dash is really nice and the Bus is really quite complete.

Dash clock is present...but a little dinged up.

Back behind the front seat...not sure what is up in there...looks like foil?

The "M" code tag is present and the options are all noted as well as the original paint colors.
The Bus was delivered in Europe originally and has a very rare option of side marker lights.

Here's the side markers..not something you see very often on a Bus in the US.

Smooth blade bumpers are correct for a Euro market Bus.
The aluminum body trim is all there...but the bumper trims are gone.

Some surface rust on the roof...kinda looks cool though..

Underneath the nose looks solid.

Fenderwell shot

New tires on the proper wheels.

Nice "fade" to everything.

There is some rust in the body...but nothing too horrible.

Bench front seats...some of the original panels remain in place.
Odd gas heater in the corner...remnants of its past as a camper.

Frame looks solid.

Some damage and rust on the rockers.

Underside of the engine looks normal...

Looks like a new exhaust has been installed.

A little body damage down low behind the bumper.

The vent trims on the rear vents are missing...a bit of a scrape along here as well.

More minor body damage.

Must have had the scoops on it at one point...the holes remain.

A few more holes from something...

Stand back a bit and it all has a decent look to it.

Being an early model it has the small glass taillights and bullet front turn signals...

I like this one just the way it is...
Load it up with a few accessories...maybe give it a color-sand and buff...it looks cool!

A little more rust here...minimal, but it is there.

Rocker on the drivers side is rusty.

No horn...

Body overall is pretty straight though which is a big plus.

In back there is a bit of a home built camper set up...use it or lose it...up to you.

Not a Westy by any means...but it is something to work with if you wanted to create the ultimate "Rat Palace" look camper interior.

Folds nice and flat for camping!

Ahh...those corner windows...nothing like the view from the corner windows!

Wild heater...and no...we have not tested it!!

Old school wood headliner.

The supperts under the back seat.

OK...there is a little rust in the floors in back...

Not huge areas...these could be patched...

Overall complete and reasonably solid though...

Some original front panels remain and are included...

Seat has a good sized rip / fart-vent in it.
Cover it...or dont.
Maybe a nice Mexican blanket and just roll with it.

In closing this is a very cool Bus.
It is a runner and the engine is good. The brakes are working as is the trans and clutch and all that.
It has been off the road for a bit so it would be wise to check everything out before puttin into daily use...but it is a great start
for someone. A very desirable model...this one will sell fast!
Oh...and it is located in Southern California by the way...
