1971 Super Beetle For Sale
This particular example was recently located and purchased by a long time
VW collector and enthusiast
as a daily driver. He lovingly cleaned and detailed and polished the car
and has spent a ton of time getting it
"just right" without going through the expense of restoration.
Mechanically the car is excellent, a very very good driver
and as you can see, it is a pretty clean machine as well.
What attracts me most about the car is it's originality. Most of the car
appears to be the original paint finish!
I see signs of some panel painting (touch up) but for the most part what
you see is "OG".
A very happy face. The Super Beetles "smile" a bit more than
the older models.
Excellent hood fit by the way... nice front bumper with the rubber impact
strip.
Very clean and proper under the hood.
Original fiberboard trunk liner still in remarkable shape.
The paint code tag.
Body tag
Original Continental spare tire?
Very solid in the spare tire well... and with a little coat of wax it will
look even better!
1971 was the first year for the Super Beetle.
This example is a "late 71" production wise.
Still with the flat windshield, but with the rounder front end.
Front apron is smooth...no grilles like the later Supers.
Couple of dings on the passenger front fender.
Good looker from the backside as well.
Passenger side rear fender has a couple of pretty big dents.
They are soft ones and may be "poppable" but realistically it
should be worked out properly
and this fender resprayed.
(I have a great body guy that can do it...figure about $250-300)
Again, very nice fit and finish to everything. Never any major collisions.
Super clean engine compartment.
Totally stock and proper 1600cc engine runs like a top.
All the proper tins, seals, air cleaner and everything is in place.
Very well maintained car. A strong runner and driver.
Fly in to Southern California and drive this baby home!
Original Hella taillight lenses.
Very nice chrome, and the bumper still has the impact strip.
Excellent tires all the way around!
Very desireable factory steel sunroof!!
Clean!
Glass is all good, rubber is holding up well.
Interior is clean too.
The radio was out for service when I shot these photos, it will be back
in place before delivery of the car.
Very nice original stuff in here.
Has a nice clean original feel to it inside...just like the outside.
Original door panels look great.
Drivers side seat is excellent (may have been re-upholstered at some point)
Passenger side front seat back needs to be recovered
(this is something we can have done at your request prior to delivery)
Original inspection and delivery stickers.
Car was originally sold in Canada!
Nice accessory center console, and check out the nice speaker panels ...no
holes cut anywhere...a wise move!
Original carpet!!
Man it's looking good for it's age!
Original headliner looks pretty nice too!
Carpet below the rear widow is faded a bit, but still intact.
Rear seat upholstery is good.
Seat belts all around by the way!
The strap hanging over the back seat in this photo is the original luggage
strap
these are usually long gone!
Here you can see the damage to the passenger side front seat.
Looks like the sun has baked it a little.
A fresh cover on the seat back on this side and then it's back to factory
fresh appearance.
Original owners manual!
Delivered first in October of 1971...just in time for Halloween!
Original ownercard still in it's sleeve.
Original tool roll.
Nice clean glove box.
A great car. Not a show car obviously, but still a very respectable machine
that has obviously
been taken care of well in it's lifetime...not used or abused, never customised
or messed with.
Oh...and of course the car is really nice and solid underneath.
Nice and smooth, recent undercoating should keep it that way as well.
I spied one very small rust hole deep down in the corner on the passenger
side... that's it!
In closing this will make a great driver for someone.
Its been well maintained, recently serviced, quite a bit spent on new brakes,
new clutch, new tires
and a whole lot more. A fun car indeed.
And dont forget...it's a sunroof car too!!
(good sunroof cars are even harder to find!)
