All Original Un-restored 1962 VW Beetle Ragtop Sedan For Sale

Wow.  Just freakin WOW!
Take a good long look at this one ladies and gentlemen, you will not find its equal easily these days.
Yes, they built a ton of VW Beetles and they probably built quite a hefty number of 1962 sedans
in Turkis with the sunroof, but after 55 years to find one as well preserved and totally original as this
is absolutely a rarity beyond measure.

This car is spectacularly well preserved and is original and un-restored.
This is all original paint you are seeing here, no repainted panels or blends, no dents or rust that have been patched over
this car is as pure as the driven snow.

From the original sunroof cover on down this car is untouched.
Just over 14,600 miles on it since new and obviously well stored and cared for.

Original chrome and trim, rubber and glass, everything is factory on this car.

Having the desirable factory sunroof is a major plus on this car.

It is truly as if it rolled out of the showroom floor 6 months ago...not 55 years ago.
It is not "flawless", age has gently left its mark on the car
but only in a way that proves the originality of the car.
Very careful inspection will find some stone chips and light scratches
and a couple careful brush dabs during its past to keep it in tip top shape.

The original 40 horse engine is fantastically detailed and features all the proper original
German features. It runs as new, and drives just as nice.
This is a pure treat to experience.

The engine was recently gone through by a top level shop just to check everything out as the car has
not been driven much. Seals and gaskets replaced so it is leak free, all cylinder tins , exhaust and manifold
refinished as well. While it was out the clutch was all replaced as well. The goal being a spotless engine that is turn-key, ready to drive and enjoy.

As you can see it is remarkably dry underneath and the chassis is rock solid and still has
the original undercoating in place.
Just dreamy.

Push rod tubes and seals replaced, all exhaust gaskets as well.

When the current owner acquired the car the wheels had been repainted and the colors were off just a bit.
An original paint spare wheel was sourced to match the factory colors exactly and they were repainted properly.
This includes the factory two tone shades as well as the back sides and seating surfaces of the wheel rims being painted black.
So many folks seem to miss this detail in a restoration.

Tires are new Firestone 5.60-15 bias ply that match the profile and size of the original and are being made
from the same molds used in the era.

I love this photo showing the paint as it comes around on the apron...all factory , all untouched.

Odometer reads 14,693 as of the date of these pics (which were just taken)
Dashboard is superb.

Fantastic Blaupunkt Wolfsburg radio is original to the car.
Original keys and a period key ring.

The car was recently shown at the San Marino Concours where it received an award in its class
running up against fully restored examples at absolute top level.
After the show the sunroof was slid open and it was driven 60 miles up the coast in the California sun
while the other cars were loaded on their trailers and carted off to their hiding spots.
This is truly a car that can be driven and enjoyed.

The car is fully documented and is all numbers matching original equipment.

Engine number is the original.

Currently registered with year of manufacture California plates.

The original steering wheel shows one notable chip at 10 o clock perhaps from the consistent happy tap
of a wedding ring while driving down the road.

Its hard to look at these photos and not think that this car has been restored.
They really never are this nice. The paint is not worn through, there are no touch ups or repairs.
The car is just a time warp inside and out.

Chrome is spectacular, the paint shines nicely, everything fits as it should.
Once you have owned and driven a truly well preserved original car like this, it will ruin you.
Nothing else comes close.

Heres a quick peek inside...more interior shots to come...but yes, it is all original in here too!

One of the most shocking things for me is seeing the original sunroof cover still in place and still in this sort of condition.
This has not been replaced, this is the material installed by the factory and while it has aged just a hair,
the condition is spectacular and it operates with ease as well.

The running boards have been replaced on the car with top level reproductions in the correct color and pattern from Wolfsburg West.
The original mats had yellowed with age and the choice was made to swap them out.
The fender beading is original, the fit of all the panels is spot on perfect.

Now on to that original interior...wow!
No seam splits, no damage, no repairs
and this is all the original materials.

Barely a butt print in the drivers seat.
The coco mats cover the original rubber mats that are in very nice condition.

Body is spectacular even in the deep corners.
This car has no rust, and has no welding...this is all original paint as well.

Rubber seals are original and still retain some flexibility.
Window operate smoothly, everything works as it should.

The original mohair cloth headliner has aged as natural fibers do but it surprisingly firm and intact.
The are a few water stains and spots where the factory applied adhesive has worked its way through
to slightly discolor the material. but this is all real, it is all original and it would be a crime to replace it.
This sort of age proves the originality of the car...and of course that smell...pure heaven!

Even the bottom sides of the doors are clean and rust free with nice smooth original paint finish.

Carpets and mats are original as well

All so wonderfully untouched.

Wow.

Documented original miles

The more you look, the more impressive it is.

Sold new in Seattle  during the worlds fair.
The sticker still remains in the window

Original Continental spare

Just fantastic in the spare tire well.

So clean!

Wiring is all original and completely untouched.

Date coded speedometer, original Blaupunkt speaker

Even the oil and generator lights have bright clear colors to them.
This car has not spent much time exposed to the sun.
The more you look, the more impressive it becomes.

Hood bolts have never been disturbed, still complete with factory finish.

Stellar

As dry and solid as can be!

Soft brakes lines have been replaced.

Not even a sign of a misplaced jack underneath!
This is just awesome. This is the original undercoating as well!

The color combination too is truly as 60's VW as you can get.
Just perfect!

I think the photos tell the story far better than my words, but I think by now you must agree
that this is truly a special car. As time goes on these true survivor examples are fewer and farther between.
Being a sunroof car as well makes it even more special. I must say this is the nicest all original example in this combo
that we have ever had roll through Oldbug.  It is truly impressive.

And here it is...up for auction..no reserve and will be sold to the highest bidder regardless of price.
