1960 VW Beetle Sedan Rare Canadian Standard Model For Sale

This is a rare one!
Very uncommon to come up for sale in the US, this is a very interesting and original 1960
Canadian Standard model

The European Standard models are something we have seen before here at Oldbug, but it is
super cool to see a special model marketed to our North American neighbors in Canada.
A low price, no frills model that was designed for the budget minded customer.

In Europe the Standard models were even more stripped down.
The Canadian market models at least got some chrome!

The color is Indigo Blue, and it is a mostly original paint car with only some minor touch ups noted
on the lower edges according to the owner and a respray of the left rear fender thanks to a small accident in 1992.

The car is currently located in Florida.

Simple and sweet

This vehicle was bought new by M. Banks at Morton Motors in Ottawa.
He drove it every summer (April to September) for 35 years.
In 1995 M. Banks sold the car back to the dealer Volkswagen Hull.
The dealer kept the car in the showroom for 5 years without even using it.
There was an agreement that the car couldn't be sold while M. Banks was alive.
The year after M. Banks passed away the dealer decided to sell the car since they wanted to make more room
to make seller offices since the business was going crazy because of the arrival of the New Beetle.

This is one of the best examples of an ORIGINAL Canadian Standard available today.
You'll be hard-pressed to find such a well documented, original car.
Included with the car will be:
• A birth certificate that shows it was made on leap year/leap day.
• A certificate from VW confirming the engine is original to the car (so is the transmission)
• The original owner's manual
• The original service manual
• A service log from the original owner in 1960 with all of its service documented throughout the first 35 years!
• Original keys with the factory VIN tag attached.
• Original Canadian dealer plate frame
• Correct 1960 Canadian license plate
• Original jack and tools

The car still has all 5 original date-stamped wheels in their original paint.
All 4 tires are new Firestone F 560. The rears are 165's and the front 155's.

Door jams are clean!

Split case trans

Clean under the engine

Some areas of fade-thru on the paint.

I love the mild patina...It would be a shame to repaint it.

Very solid in the spare tire well.

Very clean

Original glove box in fantastic shape

Original trunk liner is super clean.

Very simple interior with smooth seats and only the central headliner panel, everything else painted.

A bit of surface rust on the pan but no "rot" through.

So interesting to see this standard interior!

(I guess a passenger visor is too "deluxe"!)

Three spoke steering wheel

Original headliner is in great shape

Locking shifter is a very cool item.

Standard dash with no chrome trim or radio

All original and oh so cool!

Even the vent wing latches are black instead of chrome.

Very neat

Even the original dealer plate frame is here.

The car still has its original engine and transmission and it starts and drives perfectly every time.
You can eat off of the original 36hp engine, which has been rebuilt and the transmission doesn't whine.

Beautiful!

A whopping 36 horsepower!!

This is a very rare and unique vehicle with a well documented history and in an impressive state of preservation.
I love an all original car with a good back story and this one definitely has all that and more!
