1971 VW Squareback For Sale
This So Cal Squareback has been with its owner for quite some time
and he has recently decided to set it free and focus on other things.
The body and paint was done at one point and looks very clean.
Slightly lowered suspension but otherwise all stock in the trim department.
Its a "driver quality" car for sure, not a show machine, and it still has some room for improvement
in areas that will greatly improve it overall.
The engine is a good running stock 1600cc with dual carbs replacing the factory fuel injection.
The engine has some miles on it and is thought to be the original,
but it is still running well and has some life it it.
The headliner, dash pad and carpet are all nearly new and look great.
The original seats and rubber mats show some wear and are probably ripe for replacement
Drivers side seat shows some splits and heavy wear
Dash pad, carpet and shifter all look fresh and very nice.
Door pockets are a little saggy but the original panels are still in fair shape.
Some fresh seat covers and maybe new panels as well as a little detailing...this car will truly transform into a very nice ride.
Dash is clean and un-cut.
Modern aucio mointed below the dash, looks like the ashtray is missing but all switches and controls are present.
This is a manual trans car by the way, not the automatic that is found in this era of Type 3
Under the back seat shows a recent battery and amplifier for the audio system.
Original seat belts are still in place,
Overall the chassis seems quite solid and straight
The only area of note that I see is directly under the battery where rust has worked its way through.
Its a small spot, possibly could be patched, or replacement metal is readily available and it is a very common repair on old VWs.
Under the hood is a little messy but you can see the factory trunk lining material is still here
as well as a few extra parts and a properly wasted spare tire.
Paint work looks very clean under the hood here and the trunk seal looks fresh.
This is a great project for someone that likes fiddling with the little stuff.
It wont take much to really bring this one up several notches when it comes to the look.
The interior tidying will help a lot, it would be a great car to accessorize and maybe bolt on some custom wheels.
Its a beautiful plain white canvas on which the new owner can "paint" a masterpiece!
