1968 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale

1968 was a year of change for VW and many new details came into production.
Many look at 67 as being the last year for the "early cars" and I guess you have to draw
a line somewhere, but as tine goes on and the values of the "early" cars climb
I am more and more being drawn to the "late" Beetles.

This particular car has a fantastic history.
It was bought brand new in October of 1967 by a sweet German lady in New York named Phyllis.
Phyllis loved her VW and drove it only on good weather days and always had it serviced
at the Volkswagen dealership. As the years went by the owner of the VW dealership
offered to buy the pretty Beetle back and it spent some years displayed on the dealership floor.

The dealer sold the car to a collector in Colorado and then it went to California
and from there now to a collector in Florida with a passion for original cars.

Paint and body is all original and shows very well.

The original carpet was in place when the current owner took delivery.
This has been carefully removed and preserved and is included with the sale
but the car currently has new carpet and cocoa mats in place.

The headliner has been replaced and looks fantastic.

The floors have been cleaned and painted and the original tar insulation removed.
New insulation has been installed since this photo was taken.

Original e brake boot in great shape.

Seat upholstery is original as are the door panels.

Personally I would have left the original carpet in place, but the owner wanted it to be a driver
and not to worry about aging original materials coming apart.
Im glad he saved the original stuff though...but what is in place now looks wonderful as well.

Mega solid and dry underneath.

Very solid and rust free car.

The black paint is reportedly all original and this color combination is perhaps
the rarest one for 1968. Take a look around...its difficult to find another.

What a beauty!

Windshield has the VW logo marking

Great original paper trail on this car including the original owners manual with
"credit card" and dealership "car papers" envelope.

Impressive file of receipts including a large quantity of VW dealership service from its early days.

Nice to see the original wax blob on the speedometer cable to help document the original mileage.

46,392 miles since new

Fantastic tool roll

Spare tire well is clean solid and straight

Nice trunk liner and wiring cover.

Jack in place

Headliner looks great

Here is an interior shot with the new carpets and floor mats in place.
New color matched seat belts have been installed as well.

Love that black and red combination!

Very clean glove box

Under the engine is nice and dry.

The original engine has been fully serviced by the previous owner.
He pulled the engine and replaced the rear main seal, checked end-play which was perfect,
checked the pistons and cylinders for proper clearance and they were perfect, new clutch assembly,
had the heads redone with the hardened valves and guides for the unleaded gas, new muffler, rebuilt fuel pump, rebuilt carb,
gas tank cleaned and sealed, and the engine has been “dialed” in to perfection.

Very clean engine compartment and many correct original parts.

I love seeing the original decals in place and that amazing shine to the paint.

The red carpet and mats do jazz things up a bit inside.

Excellent dash and steering wheel

Original upholstery is impressive as is the rear luggage area materials

The original headliner was starting to come apart so it was decided to replace it.
The new headliner looks great.

Original Sapphire IX radio in the dash.

Very solid and rust free car.
Previous owner replaced the trans rear main seal, axle boots, shifter bushing , axle seals, shocks, steering damper,
everything new on the brakes with the addition of front disc brakes and
all of it German, new battery, rebuilt wiper motor, new tires,

Sweet!

In closing this is a pretty amazing car.
A well preserved low mile car with original paint, fully serviced mechanics and
tasteful careful upgrades to the interior. Rare color combination and a fantastic paper trail through past owners.
