1955 Oval Window Beetle Sedan For Sale

Here is a clean driver and occasional show car at a very reasonable price.
It was a body off restoration, completed in the past couple years and it has travelled only about 1500 miles since completion.
It is a very nice car but perhaps not "perfect".
A lot of time and love and greenbacks went into the restoration and it is a car to be proud of.

The color is called Iceland Green which is quite cool looking.
Im a big fan of greens myself.
This one is almost olive in color.
The paint and bodywork is very nice indeed.

From all angles it has a clean and fresh appearance.

Down the sides it is nice and straight and smooth.

Chrome is bright and shiny.

Wide whitewalls give it that classic appeal.

The Wolfsburg crest on the hood is a great feature on these early cars.
There are some reproduction parts used on this car, but they are all of nice quality.
The headlight assemblies are new as an example. And it appears that the fenders are repops as well as the hood.
Nice fit and finish though, only the purist could tell.

Glass is excellent, all new rubber and trim.
The wipers are not currently working by the way...the car has never seen the rain so it hasnt been an
issue for the owner.

Mode smooth bodywork.

Pretty nice work.

The Oval window.

Taillights are incorrect for a 55 model, these were introduced in 1956.
They are in great shape though.

Engine is the correct 35 horse unit, with the big nut generator.
Air cleaner is a bit newer but the owner has the correct one to include with the car.
The engine and trans were rebuilt just about 1500 miles ago, so it's a great runner.

Engine compartment is clean but not show-detailed.
Coli should be painted black...minor things if you had plans to make it a show car.

Underside of decklid is nice and clean.

The exhaust should be a single tip example for a 55...this is obviously a later model.
Fortunately they didnt cut the rear apron up, but the tips ride pretty close.

Under the engine is clean.
Car still has the proper split case transmission.
It too was rebuilt about 1500 miles ago as were the brakes.

Fllor pans are clean and solid.

Not show detailed obviously but very respectable.

Front end is clean as well.

Less than perfect paintwork underneath.
While it was a body off restoration, they didnt paint the fender wells and underside in body color.

Under the hood is very clean and tidy.

Matching spare.
Hood latch was painted over.

Nice and straight in the spare tire well.
New wiring throughout.

Body tags are present.

Clean in here and pretty straight.

Backside of the dash is tidy and proper.

The hood looks to be a later model hood, but the fit is good.
Again something only the hardcore purist would see.

Hood fits nice as do the fenders.

All new window rubbers ans seals.

Inside is very nice.

Upholstery is done in the proper pattern with the pucker on the seat bottom.
These are proper 55 and earlier seats too.

Very nice. Interior was done by Octavio and crew at Kustom 1 Upholstery in Orange.
In fact they handled the restoration after the body and paint was done.

Excellent fit to the headliner, everything like new.

Nice.

Odometer reads 90,000+ miles.
Mileage since completion is less than 1500 according to the owner.

Clean dash.

Nice fit to the carpets.
The oatmeal color looks great against the green.

Proper early heater control knob.

Door panels are nice as well.
Note the ribbed stamping on the door itself...this was a 55 and earlier attribute.

Photo documentation and receipts accompany the car.
Here are photos at the bodyshop before paint.

Here are photos of the chassis and body at Octavios during re-assembly.

A very nice looking car indeed.

So...there you have it.
I think this is a great car for the money. It is nice enough to probably do well at the smaller shows
but not overdone to the level where you would freak out if it got a water spot on it.
Pretty darn clean...I'd not mind having it in my garage to be sure!
