1974 VW Karmann Ghia For Sale

This bright red beauty is a great find.
California car since new with just 74,000 original miles!
Resprayed once on the outside, otherwise totally original and in very tidy condition.

1974 is the final year for Karmann Ghia production!
What a sweet example this one is too.
The only change to the car from stock are the polished aluminum wheels
(but the original wheels were retained and are included in the sale!)

Blue California plates, on the car since day one.
Very straight and smooth body and a pretty nice coat of paint.
Chrome is excellent too.

Nice.

Very smooth and straight down the sides.

Polished * spoke wheels look great and are wrapped with nice radials.

Nose is excellent, bumpers have the proper original guards with the rubber trims on the leading edge.

Here's a better shot of the whel and tire combo.

Hood emblem looks great.

Glass is all excellent.

Rear window with defroster

Just overall a very nice and well preserved car.

the script...

Taillight lenses are originals and are in very nice shape.

Another wheel and tire shot.
(remember...stock wheels are included along with the sale...so you could swap back to stock if you desired!)

Rocker panels are super solid...the whole car is solid in fact...always garaged and in the dry Southern California climate
it has remained very very clean and dry...not a rusty example like many on the market today...this is dreamy!

Excellent...and all the proper trim is in place as well.

The Karmann body badge

Wow!

What great shape and style the Ghia has...so pretty!

Happy face

Under the front hood is very clean and tidy.

New wiring cover and trunk liner.

Nice and clean under the hood too.
Note that the hood latch still retains much of it's original cad-plating.

Spare wheel and tire looks like it may be original!

Body tag up front

Very clean in the spare tire well area...this is all original paint in here by the way.

Nose shows only the most minimal bit of hammer work to tap out a slight ding from the front bumper...really nice work by the way
only a super thin coat of filler used to make the outside perfect...this is nice!

Look how clean the hood latch base is!!!
original paint on this panel too.

Great spare!

Front bra is included to keep that pretty nose pretty on long drives.

Nice car cover too...when parked in the garage it is always covered.
The car has been very well treated during it's life.

lets look out back and see what there is to see...

Totally stock and very clean all original engine.
Engine compartment has been resprayed apparantly...but everything looks properly in place.

Fan shroud still has the original California emissions label from new.

Even the inspection/production stamps remain intact.

Air cleaner and all the proper tins and hoses are in place.

When I say everything is in place...I mean everything...this motor is super stock and un-fettered with.

Battery area looks very clean

Under the engine lid the rain tray and hoses are all in place.

The engine looks pretty clean underneath...

Chassis it totally solid and rust free.

Very very solid.

Dry climate cars...gotta love em!

Under the front nose it looks good too.

Sweeeeeeeet!

OK...my camera is playing tricks on me, so I apologize for the foggy interior shots.
The interior of this car is really nice and clean.
The front seats have nice sheepskin covers over the original upholstery, original carpets are in
simply amazing condition, dash and door panels are all clean as is the headliner!

Steering wheel looks great

74,541 original miles at the time of these photos!

Sapphire AM/FM radio

Dash pad is excellent!

Glove box is clean but the hood latch release has broken free from the side.

Wood shift knob is a nice period goodie.
The black floor mats have done an amazing job of protecting the original carpets...just check out these next shots.

here you go...mats out and look at that gorgeous original carpet!

This must have always been covered since new!

Wow!

Headliner is original and very clean

No damage to be seen

Rear deck is clean as well

Shelf near the window is excellent...no signs of sun bake...this car has definitely spent a lot of time indoors.

The little speaker in the dash leaves a little to be desired so another little speaker out back helps spread the tunes.

Under the rear deck is super clean...note the original jack in place.

Cant ask for more than this...as solid as can be!

original tool kit!

OK...whenever I see seatcovers it makes me wonder if the upholstery underneath is bad...
In this case fortunately...that is not the case!

Check out that clean original upholstery!!! Nice!

The only issue at all with the original seat material is here on the top edge of the driver's seat back
where a very small tear was repaired by a vinyl repair guy...you can kinda see it, but with a fresh application
of vinyl protectant I bet it would blend in even more!

here's the passenger seat bottom just for good measure...nice stuff!

Headrests too are in great shape.

Door panels are very nice and clean.

The little plastic cap on the top of the passenger door has a couple cracks in it, but a replacement part is included
and the driver's side cap has already been replaced.

Aluminum door sills look great and the door jams are clean.

Production sticker in the door jam...built in September of 1973...one of the first of the 74 models.

OK...all beauty queens have a flaw somewhere... what's wrong with this one...there has to be something!

And there is...there is a kinda deep scratch in the paint on the front of the passenger fender...
That is the worst of it on this car though...it is a clean machine indeed!

Its so yummy looking you just want to lick it !!

Great car with known history and low original miles, very clean and well maintained with a nice aire of originality
yet it still looks glossy fresh and pretty. Whoever ends up with this one is going to truly fall in love...it is a good one!!
