1972 VW Deluxe Microbus with Factory Sunroof!

This is a very solid original 72 Deluxe Bus that is a fantastic project
for someone.
It is one of the last of the "Early Bay" models, commonly known as a
"crossover"
as it has the larger engine and larger rear lights of the later models
but still the low turn signals of the earlier models.

It still shines but it has it's scratches and flaws...but overall a
pleasant "patina".

Factory sunroof is a huge cool factor item with this Bus!!

Very very solid around the front window...nice fade through on the
front...this sort of thing is in fashion these days.

Body is really quite straight down the left side!

Some stone chips and minor surface rust...but not bad at all!

There is a bit of a dent around the drivers side headlight.

Some surface rust on the front floors but no holes!

Dash is pretty clean and not messed up.
No radio and the heater levers and air vents are in need of
replacement...but overall quite decent.

Nice fade through on the original white paint, and the Deluxe body trim
is all present.

One little rust blister on the drivers side rocker...but that is about
it!
Some light scrape-dents down low too...nothing major though.

Genuine round rubber tires on all corners that still have their bumpy
things on them.

Glass is all good.
All the proper trim is in place.

A couple small dings on the drivers side rear corner.

Pretty nice though!

Engine compartment seems solid.

Battery area.

The Van has been sitting for quite some time and is not currently
running.
I can see that there are some spark plug wires missing , the coil too,
and a couple of loose wires.
Perhaps it is something simple...perhaps not. The current owner got the
Van as a part of a package deal
with other cars, and has not had the time to attempt starting this one
and has decided to just sell it as-is.
Plan for the worst and hope for the best!
If she's a runner, than you have an amazing bargain...if the engine is
bad, then it is still a great Van to work with.

Original headliner.

Spare tire cover in decent shape.

Nice straight color matching passenger side rear corner clip is stashed
in the back!

Which will nicely replace this damaged area..."ouch!"
A good body man may be able to pound this back out, but the replacement
corner
might be the way to go to really do it "right".

A bit of a scuff down the passenger side and a bunch of paint chips.

More interior shots.

All seats are present as well as all the panels in the back.

Slider door panel is very nice and I am certain this will all clean up
amazingly.

Nice to see the sticker in such good shape.

Rear seat is quite nice...check out the kick panel below.

Seat partition panels are good.\

Some surface rust on th floors but a quick wire brush job and I think
you will find that it is all solid.

Center seat is present.

Deluxe door panels with the air vents.

Original jack is stuffed under the seat.

Check out that vin number!! 2222000223... cool!

Front seats are showing some wear with a couple of splits.
The rubber matting on the seat stands has been removed but is readily
available.

A couple of small headliner holes, but overall pretty intact for being
38 years old!

Steering wheel in fine shape.

Passenger side front floor needs a little clean-up, but still just
surface rust.

Air vents are in need of replacement...kick panels under the dash are
missing.

Very solid under the windshield.

Good looking old Van!!

This is a great project vehicle priced at a very realistic level.
The Bay Window model Vans have been majorly on the rise in value over
recent years
and I see no signs of slowing. A Deluxe model with the sunroof is the
top of the line...
as time goes on I believe these will be in even hotter demand... grab
one while they are still reasonably priced!
