1964 VW Camper For Sale

This Southern California based Camper is a fun driver quality restoration
example that has a great look and style .

Uncommon solid "Ruby Red" as shown on the birth certificate.
(not sure how accurate this paint color is compared to the original)
But this Bus was delivered in solid red as a straight delivery van
to San Francisco port. As was common with a lot of west coast panels
they were converted to campers by local firms and sold through the dealers.

Paint and body on this one has great curb appeal but up close
its obvious that it was a bit of an amateur restoration that lacks in detail.
Its no show car, but perfect for someone that just wants a clean Bus to play with
and doesn't want to spend huge money or have something so mint that they are afraid to use it.

New window rubber and door seals throughout

The interior woodwork is all fresh and clean and very well done.

Bumpers have a few scratches and dings under the paint

Screw holes around the side vents hint to a past installation of side scoops

Currently no radio installed but the hole looks stock and unmodified.

The underside is unrestored but mechanically the owner states that it is an
excellent running and driving Bus that has been a blast for him and his family to drive.

Front seats done in salt and pepper mesh vinyl with grey sides as correct in period

Nice door panels with a beautiful grain and color

Rockers show signs of replacement .

Drivers side rocker repair was poorly done.

12 volt electrics
There is an outward ding on this corner of the body from the battery bouncing
around. It is not strapped down so that wont happen again.

Some patching done in the fender wells

Replacement M code tag mirrors the info provided by the birth certificate from VW

Beautifully polished pop out camper windows

More small flaws on the bumper

Speedometer was rebuilt by Orange Empire Speedometer.

Birth certificate from VW shows delivery date and options.

Beautiful
Rear seat folds out into a bed as well

Fold up center table makes for an awesome hang out spot

Clean Califiornia title and current registration in the seller's name.

Good tires on 15" wheels
That rocker repair...obviously this could be left as is, but
a proper weld job and sealing this lower edge would look much better.

Front floor has some patching done.

Some active surface rust underneath

Back up top the shiny stuff does impress. These windows are great.

Nice steering wheel and clean stock un-cut dash

Driver side floor has some crispy spots

There is a paint repair and blend on the lower parts of the cargo doors
that up close is very evident. Back a little bit it blends in OK but there
is a slight variance in the color.

1600cc dual port engine is a great runner.
Engine seal along the apron is missing but everything else looks to be in place.

Sink is not hooked up to a water tank so it remains non functional.

Its hard to show that paint repair in photos, but the surface is not as smooth as the rest of the paint.
Plus the slight color variation.

Roof looks nice

Some screw holes in the fresh air box as well behind the flap switch.

Some inner rocker rust and amateur patching.

Jack points and frame look OK

Still some weak spots underneath.
Nothing that will keep you off the road, but definitely not a vehicle to rank high in show judging.

Definitely room for improvement if you are the type to want to make it awesome

Crusty

Overall...shes still a super cool machine.
Turn key and ready to play, but as shown above there are quite a few flaws when you look close.
I always like to show the bad with the good so someone can buy with confidence.
If it was done perfect to concours level top to bottom, the price of course would double
so keeping that all in mind this presents an opportunity for a fun Bus
that is a lot more affordable.
