The Canada based Intermeccanica company is well known for
their quality replicas of the Porsche Speedster, but they have build far more than just those.
From the 1960's onward they have been a company of innovation, design and quality.
In the late 1990's they were approached by one of their largest distributors in Asia
about creating a modern replica of the Kubelwagen. the "German Jeep" of WW2.
The goal was to capture the spirit of the original but make it something that could be easily
driven and enjoyed in the modern world. With the originals having just 25 horsepower, full crashbox transmissions
and cable actuated brakes...they are definitely not joyful to drive long distance.
The modern version however with three times the horsepower, modern brakes
and freeway happy gearing makes the Intermeccanica Kubel a car you can actually
take out and use in the modern world!
This particular car was built in 2001 and is one of very few that remains in North America.
The vast majority of the short production run of roughly 60 cars went overseas.
This Wisconsin based car has been with its current owner for a couple of years
but has history in Washington state as well as Florida.
The condition is excellent with the original gel coat finish and well preserved details.
The graphics on the doors are just in vinyl and can easily be removed.
Fully functional top with boot and removable side curtains
Kubelwagen inspired dash layout with modern conveniences
such as a stereo and full system warning lights.
12 volt electrics, four speed manual transmission, disc brakes and comfy seats.
The interior with its clean and simple style looks great and is miles more
comfortable than the originals. Seat belts for safety.
Storage area behind the rear seat is lockable.
Love the wood "duck board" flooring
Low back front seats actually provide some nice support in the corners.

The current owner is dealing with some health issues and is unable to enjoy it
