1962 Porsche 356 B T-6 Karmann Hardtop For Sale

SOLD!

This is a beautiful car that is currently located in Miami Florida.
It has been there just a short time, having shipped there from Southern California just a few months back.
The car was a West Coast car since new, being full restored in Oregon.

The color os Oslo Blue, and it is a gorgeous color and correct for the year.
It is however not the original color for this car.

The condition of the car is excellent.
This was a full body off restoration done to a high level.
It has been driven a bit, so it is not flawless, but it has been extremely well treated

Paint finish is very glassy smooth and nice.
This was a quality job for sure.

The photos above show the car at it's current home in the Miami area.
But before it landed in Miami it was out here in Southern California in the hands of a fanatical collector.

The car was driven from Southern California up to Monterey to attend the Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca
this last year...an amazing event and it was the ONLY Karmann Hardtop in attendance and it
received a lot of attention as a result of this. The car was also driven on two parade laps around the track
(this photo showing it coming down the legendary corkscrew)

The trip up and back to Monterey was dreamy and the car behaved perfectly.
This is what these cars are for!

This little series of photos were snapped in the Danish town of Solvang in Central California

On the coast of Monterey...a car like this on Pacific Coast Highway...awesome.

The car is fully sorted and is ready to go anywhere.
Nice enough to show and be seriously proud of.
Yet not so over-restored that you would be afraid of driving it.

The history of the car is fully documented as well as the restoration.
This fat bag of photos shows the car at many stages of it's life.

As we stape back in time here through the images you will see the restoration...
Here it is going back together after paint...wiring all being installed.

Here is a in process shot of the body shell during restoration.

Prior to the restoration the car was red and as you can see it looked pretty nice.

The Porsche certificate shows the car as being originally delivered in silver with black interior to California.

Here is the body shell after paint was done...as you can see...it was a serious job done here!

Here are some photos of the body stripped down.

Solid car underneath that paint.

There is a fat stack of receipts and such that come with the car.
It was in attendance at the 40th PCA Porsche Parade in Portland Oregon.

Notes taken during the restoration... there was some welding needed to the door bottoms
as noted here. But overall the car was a very very solid example to start with.

The restoration was done in the 1990's according to all the paperwork.
You would never guess it by looking at the car today...it still looks fresh!
The story is that the car was restored by a son to share with his father upon completion.
By the time the restoration was done, the father had passed and the son was too heartbroken to enjoy the car.
It remained in storage, started occasionally and just kept safe from the elements.
It was purchased by a gentleman in Southern California years later who went through the car completely to make it
properly operational and ready to enjoy...which he did for quite a while and then sold it last year to the fellow in Florida that owns it today.

This seems to be the name at the top of most of the receipts.

Its a FAT stack of receipts too!

Now back to the car as it is today.

Very attractive car and the model is a rarity.
They only built these cars for a very short time and the 62 model is the rarer of the two years.
With 356 prices on the climb, the special models and uniquely outfitted examples are commanding premiums.
The Karmann Hardtop seems right on the brink of blowing up big.
Right now they seem to be on par with a standard coupe price...but they are edging forward from what I have seen.

The chrome luggage rack is a nice accessory that dresses up the rear of the car.
There are leather straps for this rack by the way that come with it.

Glass is excellent, rubber is all good.

Chrome is very clean.

Wheels are date stamped originals that have been re-chromed.

Chrome is all sharp and clean.

The underside of the car has been undercoated.
If you look at the restoration shots you can see that the metal under here was fully painted and finished.
The under coating was applied after to make it as original and to protect it from the road.

Very solid under here and quite clean as well.

The hood latch has an "emergency pull" wire that is routed into the fender well in case the stock cable fails.

Fuse box cover

Vent and tank fill.

Body tag

Body number.

Clean under the trunk liner.

Still 6 volt electrics.
The stock jack is here.

Very straight body tub.

Trunk liner in place and it looks clean under the hood.

Door hinge areas are clean

Door gaps are excellent

Nice car.

Good level of detail

The tan interior against the blue paint is a very pleasing color combination.

Tires are excellent.

Karmann body badge

Engine and trans were rebuilt at the time of the restoration...excellent runner and driver.

Proper stock exhaust system.

Engine looks tidy underneath.

Reflectors

Amper Euro style taillight lenses.

The emblems are clean and shiny.
This is the 60hp version...the base model performance wise.

The engine is very clean and well sorted.
Only modifications from original being the Weber carbs and distributor.

Inside the details are nice.

Instruments are all clean and working.

Steering wheel shows just a bit of minor wear.

Seats look nice.

Headliner is well fit.

All of it very clean.

In closing this is really a wonderful car.
Nice quality restoration in a very attractive color combo.
