Fully Restored 1969 VW Beetle Convertible For Sale
This bright red beauty is located in Southern California where it was
treated
to a full restoration
by professionals...not just some guy in his garage. The owner spared no
expense and
had the work done well, so it would not need to be re-done at a later
date.
He has used the car
sparingly since completion (less than 2000 miles) and it is now up for
sale due to health reasons.
Rather than see it sit and get dusty...he wants to see it go to someone
that will truly enjoy it.
The more I looked at this car, the more I really liked it...whoever
ends
up bringing this home is going to
fall in love with it to be sure. Its got a very stock and original look
to it...but classed up ever so slightly
with the stayfast canvas top and very nice detailing.
The paintwork on this car is really super nice...I will show a few
photos
below that will hopefully
demonstrate this properly. Its one of the cleanest jobs I have seen on
a "non -super show car" Beetle in a while.
Super smooth finish and the color is fantastic.
So many of these cars have been modified, it is refreshing to see a
late
60's Beetle done stock and proper.
No lowered suspension, custom wheels or performance engines (which are
all fine and dandy if that is yor thing)
this one is done simple and clean and super cherry.
Fit and finish of the body panels is noce...everything seems to be in
the
right spot and looking hot.
Very straight and smooth down the sides...all new rubber and trim...no
stone un-turned.
Bumpers have the factory bumper guards with rubber trims...stock wheels
and tires with the proper caps and trim rings.
I found only a couple super small stone chips on the front...the paint
is really nice on this one.
Chrome is bright and clean.
Karmann body badge is in place on the front quarter panel.
This shot shows the paint quality pretty well...look how crisp the
reflection
is on the fender.
Here's another good shot to show how arrow-straight the body is and how
smooth the paint finish is.
Really sharp!
The top is stayfast canvas...the same cloth used by Mercedes, and the
fit
is excellent.
The whole top was rebuilt by the way and I must say it operates
smoother
than any convertible top on a Beetle that
I have come across...really smooth and lines up perfectly...very nice
work.
The glass is all excellent and the rubber is all like new...car has
always
been garaged and well cared for.
Under the front hood is also very clean.
Well detailed even in the dark corners and a very straight body with no
signs of hard damage or repair.
Wiring is all very clean as well.
Body tag
Under the hood I could see that there was a little bodywork done to the
hood...visable from below but
razor sharp sweet and smooth above...you can see the area I am speaking
about in the center of the photo
towards the top. Its not bad, and certainly nothing spooky, but I
always
try to find a flaw with
the cars I photograph and this was the one on this car that jumped out
at me.
The engine compartment is very clean (maybe a slight layer of dust) but
everything is wonderfully dry
and clean and all in place where it should be. Stock vacuum advance
distributor
and oil bath air cleaner,
carb even has the period "smog device" on it...very well done
and it runs great.
Engine was rebuilt less than 2000 miles ago.
Here's a little closer shot...nice to see all the seals and such in
place...so
many people cut corners with this sort of thing.
Under the engine lid is super clean...proper rain catcher is in place
under
the lid.
Bumpers and guards look great...very nice chrome.
Amber topped taillight lenses are a European version and contrast the
paint
color well.
Tires are like new and the wheels look great.
Under the engine is very dry and clean...same with the transmission.
Trans was reportendy rebuilt as well and sure looks it to me.
Floorpans and heater channels/ support rails look excellent!!!.
Very nice and straight and wonderfully solid.
Front end too looks super clean!
Nice cut line under the apron for the undercoating...nothing messy
about
this car.
Sweet!
The interior is just as spotless as the exterior...all new and
fanatically
clean.
Stock rubber floormats over a very well fitted German Square Weave
carpet
kit.
I did spy one more slight flaw...clutch pedal need to be adjusted so it
sits vertical
clutch works excellent...no issue there...just an adjustment at the
pedal
(Im nit-picking here...sorry)
Under the rubber mats the carpet looks superb
Locking shifter is a very nice accessory.
This allows the transmission to be locked in gear so it makes it
impossible
to drive.
Couple this with a steering wheel "cane" style lock that hooks
around the clutch pedal
and the car is pretty immobilized...someone would have to break a lock
to get the car rolling.
There is not much that will truly "stop" a crook from stealing
a car...but this would sure help slow him down!
Carpet is superb...top quality material and really well fit.
Dash is very clean...not cut for a radio...just smooth and simple.
Another shot of the rubber mats...excellent shape...just a little dust
and a couple footprints.
Under the mat is clean carpet.
Door panels are excellent...door seals and weatherstripping has all
been
replaced.
Steering wheel is clean and the horn ring is shiny.
Headliner is excellent
Nice
Seat upholstery is excellent as well...very well fit.
Front seats show no wear.
Door panels are all very clean.
Under the back seat everything looks super solid...no signs of rust or
repair.
Optima battery.
Luggage area behind the back seat.
Matching canvas top boot is included.
Proper original mirror
Odometer reads 1364 miles...I think this is the mileage since
completion
of the restoration,
but I have not confirmed this. Looks about right based on the condition
of everything.
Top frame was all rebuilt and restored and operates amazingly smooth.
Top down and ready for action!
Picture yourself driving this beauty down to the beach!
One of the cleanest stock 69 Convertibles we have ever had on the
website.
Turn key...ready to drive and enjoy.
Clean enough to bring home the trophies I would think...(or the
groceries!)
In closing I was pleasantly impressed with the condition and quality of
this car.
I like it a lot and I think you will too.
It may be a bit more expensive than other 69 Convertibles on the market
at the moment but after viewing the photos
I am sure it is obvious that this is much much nicer than the other
cars
out there.
Very nice indeed.
