1974 VW Thing "Acapulco" Edition, All Original , For Sale!
SOLD!!

Look at this Thing!
What an absolute blast.
This is a genuine original Acapulco model,
one of only 400 of these made by the factory.

The car is a fantastic suvivor car, all original and unrestored with
just 54,000 original miles.
Very well preserved with only minor age wear that adds some
character and proof that it has never been touched.

Finding one of these that has never been restored is a very difficult
thing.
What I love most about a ar like this is the honesty, you know clearly
by
looking at it that there are no hidden repairs or shpddy work...it is
just as the factory built it.

The vast majority of these VW Things had pretty rough lives.
Its a difficult car to repair correctly when it comes to body damage or
rust
and while there are very good resources for parts and restoration items,
it is a model that more often is "restored" wrong or modified.
A "virgin" example like this is a breath of fresh air indeed.

This car spent quite some time as a personal car for the owner of one
of the biggest
VW Thing specialty shops. He showed it proudly and used it as a
resource for
just how these cars should be put together. An all original car like
this is a very valuable reference
for anyone restoring one.

Extremely solid underneath with no rust or signs of repair.

Top frame and seats are totally original.

The original engine runs like a top!!

So fun!

Never hit, never painted, just well kept and maintained and in an
excellent climate its whole life.

The Acapulco model is highly prized among collectors and
if you are after one, you should always look deep to see if it is an
original Acapulco.
Many of the normal Things have been converted over the years...this one
is the genuine article!

There is a bit of paint fade on the hood and license light,
This is a car built for a sunny climate and it has been in one, so it
shows a bit of that.
I personally would never paint it, preferring to leave the originality
as intact
as possible for as long as possible, but if you were dead set on it
being flawless, it could be redone.

The front seats show more fade than the rear, but both are clean and
rip free.

Engine room is very clean and the original 1600cc engine runs fantastic.

Too fun!

Everything fits exactly as it should.

Extremely solid underneath

Dash is excellent, the interior paint is very clean, and best of all it
is all original.

Hard to imagine a car that wouldl be more fun than this to cruise the
beach in
on a perfect sunny day. Pull the doors off for a little extra
breeze and fun factor... memories to last a lifetime!

In closing this is a pretty dreamy find.
While it is not perfect and it shows a little cosmetic wear,
it is one of the best survivor Acapulcos that I have seen.
Its fantastic!
