1973 VW Thing For Sale

This Southern California based VW Thing has been in the same hands for the past 20 years.
The owner a Porsche collector, who had the Thing for weekend trips now and then.
The car got used very little during this period but was kept maintained by him mechanic
so it was ready to go at any time. Just recently he decided to sell it off and a good friend
took it over and is now offering it for sale.
The car is very clean in and out and very solid underneath.
It is mostly stock in the mechnical level of things with just a few
diversions from factory equipment in the form of wheels and tires, chrome bumpers and pinstriping.
The chrome bumpers do give it a flashier look to be sure and they are in very nice shape.
Paint is very nice as well and the contrasting pinstriping gives it some added style as well.
The dash is completey stock and in very nice shape.
Stock steering wheel and everything.
The current owner is getting some floor mats for it that will clean up the floor area and make things look very nice.
The seats have been redone in a black velour with yellow piping which is very comfortabke ad looks cool too.
The car has the optional factory gas heater in place.
Original color of the car is yellow as you can see from the original paint finish in here.
The side curtains are here and in excellent condition.
Everything is quite clean inside here.
The engine is a stock 1600cc dual port that is excellent in all regoards.
Very clean and runs beautifully.
The original stock air cleaner is present and the exhaust stsyem has been changed to a single "quiet pack" unit
with a header. The chrome bumper in the back is in excellent shape.
Taillights look clean and bright too.
The rear seats are in excellent shape.
They fold down flat for hauling cargo.
The car has always been stored out of the elements and has remained in very good shape.
The chassis is super solid underneath...no rust issues on this one!
The velour interior material, while not original is a massive improvement when you are open air motoring.
That hot black vinyl that was used originally gets really uncomfortable in the sun...this stuff feels great.
The flexibility of the VW thing is really fun.
Top up and doors on it is a good Jeep like cruiser, but pull those doors
off and the top down and fold that windshield forward and it is an instant party!
The pinstriping is very cleanly done and looks great.
The chrome fender beading and body trim down low also add some flash.
Tires are excellent on the Centerline wheels.
The owner is mustering up a new VW emblem for the nose...the pins came off the old one.
Nice car and a ton of fun!
Top is in nice condition with no damage.
Rear window is in decent condition.
Great fun off road and on.
If you have never experienced the fun of a VW Thing...you should!
This is a good one.
Very solid, very clean, mild upgrades, never abused, always garaged.
Runs, looks and drives great!
