1956 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale
The original owner bought it here in So Cal at the VW Dealer in Pasadena.
It was 1956, but he was told it
was one of the first 57 models to be sold (but it's registered as a 56
just the same).
This fellow and some of his friends all bought new VWs and had their own
little club of sorts.
They would race the cars on the weekend and drive them to and from work
during the week.
The car was raced in So Cal mostly between 56 and 59 and was used for slalom
racing as well
as fun runs at San Gabriel Valley Dragway, and at the NHRA track in Riverside.
It was even raced at the Go Cart Track that was in Asuza.
It was in stock form at the time, no modifications and it handled well
and beat out some of the British sports cars of the day.
The car at one point was painted in silver and equipped with Porsche 356
brakes.
The car was repainted white some time after and the Porsche brakes were
removed recently and stock VW brakes installed.
(so it has fresh brakes)
