1970 VW Beetle Convertible For Sale

This California based 1970 Converible is a pretty sweet little looker.
Mild custom touches inside out and everywhere...the car was redone about 9 years ago but has obviously been very well maintained
and cared for since completed, driven only about 9,000 miles, always garaged, etc etc.

Most of the time I start out with the pretty shots and work down to the gritty details...Im going backwards on this one.
Lets start with the hige stack of receipts for the work done on the car and the original owners manual.
The owner has it all here so the documentation is all here from day one.
Nothing to hide...he has it all.

And yes...it has a clean California title...he has owned the car since 1998.

Here is a quick peek at the cool tonneau cover and the nice interior just to keep your interest flowing
as we go through the underside shots and such...

Not often you see this sort of set up on a Beetle...mostly little British sports cars...but I must say I like it.
Zip up the flap on the drivers side and keep the leaves out but the top down... cool...

OK...here is the underbelly...lets get right down to the dirty stuff and get that over with.
Looks like a solid chassis...I spy recent brake lines...and good dry sheetmetal in this shot.

Adjustable front beam looks clean...the stock un-altered or restored floorpans look good.

Disc brakes by the way...

Nice to see the rubber boots solid and un-torn...
A little road grime from use but everything looks very well in order.

Adjustable front beam allows for the ride height to be altered to taste with minimal effort.

Header exhaust sytem look pretty good...
Looking at the pushrod tubes they still have a bit of shine to them...consistent with the mileage on the motor.

Underside of the engine is nice and clean and dry...trans too.
I spy what looks like some floor repair just under the battery...but solidly done.

Nice to see an engine that isnt all greasy underneath!

Auxillary oil filter in the fender well.

Looks like the support rails are very clean and solid underneath...
which is a very important thing in these convertible models.

Here if you look at the bottom of the photo you can see across to the battery side of the pan...repaired, but cleanly so.
Drivers side looks like solid original German steel.  Definitely a solid example.

OK...Ive got you all dirty looking under the car at the chassis and the solid foundation of it all...now let me soothe you with the soft stuff!
Here is the tonneau cover completely closed.

Pretty slick!

The car has a mild "Cal look" treatment with all the trim removed and solid black rubber.

Carpets are very nice with contrasting piping and have always been covered with rubber mats.

Seats are excellent.

Odometer reads 9400 miles.

Very nice.

Check out the Karmann body badge on the glove box door...nice touch.

Rear seat is excellent as well...seat belts at all points so you can haul the family.

Paint looks very nice...headlight eyebrows are an aquired taste and are of course easily removed if not wanted
in about 10 minutes or less!

Early style bumpers, aluminum running boards, the Empi 8 spoke wheels with knock off's...nice looking car.

Decklid has been shaved smooth and has been kicked out to provide proper ventilation.
Early style taillights are also a nice style change

Matching top boot is in excellent shape.

Headliner is clean and well done...luggage area behind back seats is nice.

Top material is excellent.

Top frame is clean and well restored.

Top up...

The engine is a 1776cc mild performance unit with full flow case and remote oil filter.

Scat counterweight crank shaft, freeway flyer transmission.
Engine runs strong and reportedly gets about 35mpg!!

Very clean in here!

Aluminum degreed crank pulley, Bugpack oil breather and a few touches of chrome.

Nice!

Under the front hood is cleanly detailed as well.

Matching spare wheel and tire and a carpeted trunk liner.

Top up...the headliner looks great.

Glass is all good.

Chrome in nice shape...rubber is good.

Door seals in nice shape.

Window scrapers and trim are very good.

Snaps inboard of the windows are for the tonneau cover.

Here you can see the paint color better...in the sun it has a very nice shine to it!

Top is excellent.

Karmann body badge has a little damage...but an easy thing to swap out.

Tires are very good...wheels are clean.

Here you can see the disc brakes peeking through.

In closing this is really a heck of a car for the money.

that is ready for fun in the sun either as a driver or a weekend show toy.
