1970 VW Beetle Sedan For Sale
SOLD!
This 1970 Beetle is a really nice car!
The owner of it has given it MASSIVE attention and effort and it shows
in the outcome here.
Here is what he wrote about the car.
History:
I purchased this 1970 VW Bug about
two years ago from the second owner, who only bought it to resale and
make some money.
He purchased it from the original
owner, a woman in her eighties from Santa Barbra (original CA
car).
The car had the original paint,
interior and drive train. The paint was thin and the driver seat
was worn.
Aside from that, the car was in
amazing condition, with 102,000 miles (106,000+).
The car was garage kept (still is),
and according to man I bought it from, the lady’s grandson drove the
car once a week to keep it alive.
I planned to drive as it was, but I
went crazy (as usual) and restored it to a condition I could be proud
of.
I drive it to work 2-3 times
per week and my longest trip was to San Diego.
When I drive it to work, it is
parked in a covered stall. I would drive it anywhere.
I am restoring a 52 Split Rag and
purchasing a Split Bus.
I need money and room (four Bugs) to
finish the project, so this sweetie has to go.
I have all the receipts for the
work on this car
Since I did almost all the work, I
can answer any questions.
I am sure I forgot to list some of
the things I did. If you need any more information, please let me
know.
Body:
The car had a two stage paint
job about two (2) years ago ($3,000). The only body work was a
few parking lot dings.
It has never been in a
collision and both front and rear aprons are perfect.
The entire car was taken to the bare
metal (by a dual action sander and sand paper), primed and blocked
twice, then painted.
After being painted, it was
color sanded and polished. The paint is show quality, with no
orange peel.
There is one tiny dent on the
lower (bottom), trailing edge of the left rear fender.
You have to look for it to see it
(see photo).
The underside of the car has
the original undercoat and it was recently painted semi-gloss black as
well as all inner fenders.
I love the blue California plates and the VERY stock appearance to this
car.
Underside looks amazing.
So solid!
So clean!!
Like new...very well done.
Excellent headliner install.
Super clean and straight and original in the spare tire well.
Nice original jack in the holder.
Here is the one little ding the owner mentioned in his text about the
body.

Clean in the door jams
Nice
Engine:
Original engine was recently
removed to get the transaxle out (for rebuild).
Most engine seals were replaced, as
well as the front crank seal.
All sheet metal was painted and the
new sheet metal screws were installed.
It was a Pertonics distributor,
header and quiet muffler (jet coated) and billet oil drain plate.
The engine runs awesome and
does not drip a drop of oil.
All new KYB gas shocks. All
four brake flex lines and master cylinder were replaced.
The brakes work great and there is
plenty of material left on the brake shoes.
Transaxle:
Rancho rebuilt the original
transaxle and it has less than 300 miles.
The shifter bushing was replaced as
well as the rear coupler.
The inner CV joints were repacked
while the transaxle was out.
Trim:
The original bumpers were re-chromed
by Orange County Plating ($650) and are beautiful.
The bumper brackets were powder coated as well as the engine
compartment water deflector.
The original bumper guards were showing their age, so I located
an original set of NOS ones which were installed.
The side and hood moldings are all new stainless steel Wolfsburg
West (WW) units.
The hood handle is NOS VW. The chrome on the door handles,
front turn signal tops and rear locking engine lid is good.
Every rubber seal was replaced with WW units.
The wiper arms are NOS VW and the runner boards are new from
WW.
The car does have rear pop-out rear side windows.
Wheels:
The original wheels were sanded
and painted silver on the outside and black on the inside.
The hub caps are also NOS VW
and are perfect. The radial tires have about 3,000 miles on
them.
The original spare tire is
still mounted and its wheel was also repainted.
Interior:
The interior
is pristine and features original door and rear panels, carpet and hump
and rubber mats.
The seats were
fitted with all new horsehair padding (WW), rear cards and
covers.
All seat frames,
parking brake lever, shifter and glove box were repainted to the
original color.
New perforated
white headliner, sun visors and clips as well as rear luggage
compartment carpet.
The steering
wheel, horn ring and horn button are original and are in excellent
condition.
The padded dash
was replaced with a NOS VW one.
There is one tiny
crack on the upper left corner, by the VIN plate.
The AM Sapphire
radio looks awesome and sounds great with the new WW
speaker. New pop out window locking hinges. WW coco
mats.
Wow that looks great!
Super clean car!
Excellent body and paint
AM/FM factory radio
This car really looks like it is about as nice as you could ever find
for a 70 model...it really is clean.
Fantastic history, an owner that didnt hold back and did everything to
the best of his ability.
Whoever ends up with this one is going to truly fall in love!
