1962 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible For Sale

SOLD!

Nothing better than a red convertible...

This red 1962 Convertible has been in the current owners hands since the 1980s.
It is located in Nebraska and is a good runner and driver.
Its been in storage a bit...no long drives in quite some time, but it has been kept up with
and driven around the block now and then to keep the fluids moving.

The car is in decent shape but probably not a trophy winner in today's world.
Its an older restoration and an average one at that but it does appear to be a very solid car underneath
and its quite complete.
The original radio and face plate are here in the trunk...nice to see those were retained.

Under the back seat it looks pretty solid.

Still 6 volt electrics.

Dash is clean and un-cut. The speaker grille and glove box door are done in while while everything else is red.

Perhaps a light bit of surface rust starting under the mats but very solid.

The original convertible decklid is gone and a standard sedan lid in in place.
The car has behaved well for its owner all these years like this but I would think it would run pretty hot
without the ventilation that the factory louvers would give it.

The top is functional and in decent shape...the rubber seals have seen better days though.

Note that the floors are primed in spots in the red oxide primer, so they are solid
yet still a bit of surface rust around the edges.

The seat upholstery is worn but holding...no big rips or damage...just a little tired.

Small speaker boxes behind the back seat..

I like that the dash is not cut up and the radio that was installed was done without modifying the opening.
Spray the grilles and ashtray red and put that stock radio in its spot and it would look factory original.

The headliner is starting to pull at the back seam.
Nice to see the original dome light in place!

The car has a lot of promise. You could spend a little time and effort in a few spots to improve upon it easily
or if you wanted a real super cherry car, this would be a fantastic basis to start from.

Looks straight up front...the jack is present too.

Wiring looks pretty good overall...a bit of overspray and the modern radio added some spaghetti...but it is all there.
Nice original fiber glove box.

A bit grungy underneath but not super wet and drippy.
And looking across to the floor pans it looks great!

I dont think those shocks have been off of there in a long time!

Some s\chips and scratches from storage and use...but still presentable.

Interesting to see this contrasting piping on the top...not something I recall seeing before.

Fender is a little dinged up...

Top could use a little cleaning and a vinyl treatment to bring back the black
Paint looks very glossy in these photos.

Dang she looks solid underneath!!
This is a very rare thing to find on a Convertible from Nebraska!!!

Old school bias ply tires are quite old and show age cracks on the sidewalls.

Detail of some of the scratches.

Stock 40 horse engine is all original looking.
Shes a runner just as you see it.

This is the early style "stale air" 40 horse engine.
Still 6 volt electrics.

Odometer reads just shy of 25k miles.
Actual mileage is unknown.

Some scratches in the chrome and a couple of small dings in the bumpers.

In closing this looks like a very solid example that has a much older restoration that shows it's age.
Fluff it up and run it like it is and have a blast or dive in and do some further restoration work.
Either way it looks like a very good basis to work with!
